AHMITY STOOD OUTSIDE the school house, directing the students in a scavenger hunt for healing herbs when Jack arrived. The children rushed about through the trees, giggling and snatching plants out from under the bushes. Jack smiled at Kaleb and Crasis as they walked slowly among the chaos, pointing here and there assisting the younger children. He recalled his school days playing football and chasing cheerleaders with Tom and Hopper. His mind wandered to his friends and their search in the darkness, and he sighed.
