Jenny stared at the gifts one more time, Deep down she appreciated the gifts and the nice gesture from Jordan but it felt like he opened a wound that had been long buried. With a heavy heart, she gathered the gifts and packed them into her room
She took a warm bath and slipped into her comfy pajamas and climbed into her bed hoping to escape the memories overshadowing her mind. But the sight of the gifts made it impossible to ignore the past. She held her pillow, buried her face in it, and cried herself to sleep.
The loud sound of her alarm woke her up, It was 7.00am. She sat up on her bed and stretched her body, moving sluggishly. She grabbed her phone to review her task for the day, but instead, a message from Jordan popped up “Did you sleep well, my princess?”
Jenny stared at the message for a while, and she locked her phone without replying. I don't have the strength to do this today, All she wanted to do was to shake off the weight of last night’s emotions.
Jenny stood up and headed to the bathroom to freshen up, After a long bath she slipped into her gym wear, hoping the workout would help her clear her head.
Jenny arrived at the gym without wasting time she got started, Her phone rang mid-workout it was Jordan, “Good morning beautiful “Jordan said loudly and bubbly
Jenny sighs softly” Hello Jordan good morning I got your gifts…. And the laptops donated to the community center I appreciate it but….
Jordan cut her off before she could finish.
“No, but. Can’t I do something nice for the woman who makes my heart skip and gives me sleepless nights?” he asked playfully, not waiting for an answer.
“Anyway,” he continued, “I called to let you know there’s a dinner party tonight. It’s hosted by one of our clients who’s interested in the software. I’ll send a stylist over with a few dress options. I’ll pick you up at 7 p.m.”
Before Jenny could respond, the line went off. She stared at her phone, breathless.
Who does he think he is? she thought. She continued her workout.
Jenny arrived home from the gym, settled in, she spent the rest of her day resting and watching movies, doing all it takes not to dwell or stir up last night’s emotions.
By 5pm there was a knock on her door, She rushed to get the door, it was the stylist Jordan had mentioned earlier, accompanied by a makeup artist. They exchanged pleasantries. They got right to work, preparing her for the evening.
At exactly 7 p.m., another knock. Jenny opened the door to find Jordan standing there, looking clean and calm. For a moment, he simply stared.
“You look beautiful,” he said softly.
“Shall we?”
He offered his arm. Jenny took it, and he gently walked her to the car, opening the door and making sure she was comfortably seated before getting in.
They arrived at the venue shortly after. As they entered, Jordan held her close, his hand resting lightly on her waist. All night, he looked at her with love and quiet admiration, introducing her to some of the most prominent people in the room.
Throughout the evening he didn't let go of her, At a point Jenny's phone rang, Jenny leaned in and whispered in his ear “I have to take this call it’s my mom,
She stepped out to pick up the call.
Standing in front of the venue, she spoke softly to her mom
“Can I call you back Mom?” she said as she noticed someone approaching.
“Hello Jenny “ came from a familiar voice
Jenny was shocked “Sam… Sammy “ she replied, her voice cold.
“Good evening baby,” he said moving closer to her
Jenny froze, Before she could step away, she placed his hands on her waist, then his other hand on her arm.
I missed you, I missed this, he said, staring at her body lustfully, pushing her against the wall.
“Sammy, stop it,” she said firmly, trying to pull away.
“Come on, Jenny… you used to love it when I touched you this way.”
Inside, Jordan noticed that Jenny had been gone for too long, worried he began to look around, As he stepped out, his heart dropped at the sight, he froze, he saw Sammy, with his hands on Jenny, pinning her against the wall, and Jenny struggling to let go.
Rage surged through him.
He walked up to them with anger, rolling his sleeves to his elbow mid-stride, without a word he threw a punch at Sammy’s face, Sammy stumbled, but Jordan was not done yet, He kept hitting him, punch after punch the anger pouring out of him.
Jenny looked terrified, tears streaming down her face.
Jordan finally turned and saw her trembling, crying, and broken.
He stopped
Leaving Sammy on the ground bloodied and groaning he walked over to Jenny. Without a word, he pulled her into his arms, holding her gently as if she might shatter. He kissed her forehead softly.
In that moment, he wished he could absorb her pain, carry it for her.
Still holding her, he walked her to the car and drove her to his penthouse. Jenny didn’t ask where they were going. She didn’t resist.
She just sat in silence, staring out the window, drained, quiet, and lost in her own thoughts.
Jordan stole quiet glances at her as he drove, Jenny sat beside him motionless, she hadn't said a word since the incident, her silence was louder than screams.
They arrived at the penthouse minutes later, Jordan stepped out of the car and quickly walked around to the passenger side. He opened the door gently.
Jenny didn’t move. Still lost in her thoughts, she stared blankly ahead, until she heard him softly say, “Come on, sweetheart.” He extended his hand.
She looked up slowly, and she reached out and placed her hand in his. It was warm.
He led her through the private entrance, and straight to the guest room With a quick call to his staff, he spoke calmly, “Run a hot bath for her. Use the jasmine oil. And bring the new silk sleepwear in ivory, the one in the Monteil box.”
He made sure everything was set before turning to her.
You will be safe here, Jenny. i will give you some space, he said gently. He didn't wait for a response. He just stepped out, giving her space.
Still quiet, Jenny allowed herself to be cared for. The maid helped her into the bath, then laid out the luxurious sleepwear on the bed. She slipped into it and lay on the bed, She didn't say much, but her eyes said a lot.
Jordan checked on her at intervals, not staying too long, just long enough to see if she was okay
She lay in bed still and quiet but comforted, the calmness around her and the gentleman who was doing far more than anyone had in a long time.
Jordan woke up very early, and he was already in the kitchen cracking eggs into a bowl.. His chef walked in surprise to see him in the kitchen
“Sir? Should I take over?” the chef asked, startled.
“No,” Jordan replied smoothly, whisking the eggs in the bowl. “I’m making breakfast myself this morning.”
By the time Jenny woke up she felt refreshed and better than last night. A soft knock came followed by a gentle noise of the door opening.
“I brought you breakfast,” Jordan said, walking in with a tray. Scrambled eggs, croissants, fresh berries, and a warm cup of chamomile tea.
Jenny, sitting up slowly in bed. She looked better.
She gave him a soft smile. “Did you cook this?”
Jordan chuckled. “Yes, I did. Is it terrible?”
She took a bite, chewed slowly, and shook her head. “No... I just never imagined Jordan Blake would be a good cook.
They both laughed and something eased in the room, the tension, the distance. Just a little
“Well,” he said with a smirk, “I also got you a comfortable dress. You can change into it once you’re done.”
He leaned in, took her hand, and kissed it with gentle care. As he turned to leave, his hand already on the door knob, she called out softly.
“Jordan…” she let out softly
He paused and looked back.
“Thank you. For everything. I really appreciate it.” she said with teary eyes
He walked back toward her, brushed a strand of hair from her face, and kissed her forehead.
“You’re safe here,” he whispered.
Then he paused at the door, his hand resting on the knob.
“Well, princess,” he added with a half smile, “get dressed soon. I’ve got somewhere to show you.”
And with that, he left the room but the curiosity he left behind lingered in the air like perfume.
Jenny caught herself smiling, sheepishly.
Just a little. But it was there.
