Lesson IV: What is pride and happiness. August 2011 was going to be the beginning of a happy time. Full of sacrifices and a lot of discipline, but in the end a happy time. It was not difficult to learn to swim. I believe that each human being has the commands implanted in the brain to achieve action, however as good human beings we numb our senses and as a consequence some do not have the ability to even float to save their lives. In the first month I managed to learn all the styles and maybe I did not walk with the elegance of a merman or a mermaid, but we could say that my technique was the closest to an average elegance. My first competition came and I was anxious, nervous and terribly scared of failure, but everything in the end turned out more than good for a rookie with just 1 month of experience. I won my first silver and bronze medals, and what should I say about that… Well; it felt f*****g great. My body vibrated with happiness and my chest expanded with pride. It was the feeling and it was the strangest and scariest thoughts I'd ever felt. That day I heard for the first time leave my mother's lips that she was proud of me. Too bad that all good things have a very close end, right?
