James and I looked at each other stunned before reacting immediately. We headed out the kitchen door and bolted for the barn before anyone could find us. We could hear men shuffling from a distance as we stayed put in the barn.
"Are those men sent by Maria's father?" James whispered as we hid behind a stack of hay. We could see men with guns search the house from the distance we were at.
