Chapter 30. Ties that bind us

2575 Words

Luca It takes a second for my brain to register the danger that is coming from the stranger at the door of my mom’s trailer. One moment I had Geneva trapped between my body and the wall. The next someone invaded our privacy and is threatening us with is sole presence. By the time I am aware of this, I pull Geneva to hide her behind me and face the stranger face on. Only, he is no stranger. That’s my dad’s new old buddy. That Bart Birnam guy who showed out of nowhere looking for his supposedly lost daughter to ruin my plans. He stares at us with cold blood-shot eyes now and I can almost feel the grin behind his mask. A bad feeling creeps down my spine and an actual growl escapes my throat. This is my place, the monument of the s*hittiest time of my life and he doesn’t have any job here.
