14 –––––––– A deluge of snow and ice spewed from all angles like a frozen hydra. Scrambling to avoid the worst of the first attack, Toby rolled to freedom just as the bulk of the landslide slammed into the ground. He was covered in snow but unharmed. The second blow was more difficult to avoid. A beam of frost from Melvin’s hands crashed into his chest, sending him spinning through the air. Landing awkwardly, he heard a sharp crack. He cried out from shock but the full effect of the pain didn’t reach him initially. The burning agony of impact was numbed by the cold and adrenaline.
