Chapter 44

660 Words
“Valour!” still, I continued calling him. But it has been a minute already since I started ctahing his attention. Yet, my efforts seems to have no way to go onto, since Valour has kept his eyes closed; confused and struggling. I squeezed in again his hand that was still holding me. I held it tightly, and continued calling his name. “Valour!” Seriously, will this work out? I have been calling his name and trying my best to get his attention, but it was all useless. If I could jus punch him in his face right now, I would have been. But, the current situation we are all in, could not allow me to. Currently, the hurricane of ghosts in the surrounding was all still trying to drag us upward perhaps wanting us to trap in a place along with them. That is why I could not just move rashly for now. Because I know that one wrong move, and all of us would highly ace our doom. “Valour! Come on, don’t be a chick!” I again shouted angrily. Beside Valour is another from the Vulture gang. A member. Compared to Valour, his face is calm and serene. There was a trace of smile curving from his lips. s**t, that is dangerous. If he continued believing in that imaginary pleasure he has been dreaming, it would be his end. He would lose this game Minos had set up. And when one lose in this game, I know, that the punishment is not just a mere physical punishment—but death. The loser will receive death as punishment. I could not let that happen! No, please. Not another Vulture. I bit my lower lip. With all the remaining strength stored in me, I jolted a force, and then kicked Valour at the back of his knee. It seemed a dangerous thing, I know. And it was indeed dangerous. Because I am still weak and could not properly balance my remaining strengths, I was almost dragged by the windy pressure of the ghosts. Good thing, I was able to find my feet back into the ground. It was a success attempt in kicking Valour’s back of the knee. However, that too became risky—the fortified circling position of our gang has somehow ran into chaos after Valour hitting on the ground in a kneeling position. Good thing I have managed to save and control his body. “Damn it, Valour, can you just wake up?! I am having an eternal hard time into making you awake!” Another thing from the man beside Valour has caught my attention. I placed my attention to him. There I saw a figure above his head; a small, child-like figure (but surprisingly, it has a matured face. An ugly one) was sitting at the top of the man’s head, looking at me. The man, on the other hand, was smiling more noticeably now. Yet, the way how it smiled has spooked my gut out. His smile was extended until the best that he could; teeth were exposed, as if it could give a more brighter smile. But it wasn’t a smile for me, but baring of the teeth. Then, the Vulture member laughed. Hard. Overly hard. As it opened its eyes, it was now turned in red. Frothing white liquid came rushing off his mouth. His eyes then cried with blood. But among all this terrifying event, he still got the strength to laugh manically. Now as if it was the sign of the ghost above its head, it started moving. He plucked out the head of the man away from his body, as if it was just a ripe mango fresh from the tree. Then, the ghost went off, carrying the decapitated head, and leaving the body shake in physical trauma. From the man’s neck, it sprinkled blood, and showered almost everyone near him—including me and Valour.
