Chapter 33

There was a spine-chilling sensation that suddenly whipped-through the back of my neck. A cold wind that licked through my skin, despite the fact that we are on a place that fire would never be surely extinct—well, if only fire was a living creature, okay? This cold sensation that invades my body, I noticed, was just my own fear as I stand here in front of many gross-looking Sinners who seems very interested in us. Wait, let me correct it; who seems very interested in eating us. “Damn it, that Sinner’s a strong one.” Jeross came back almost injured because of the surprise attack made by the Sinner just earlier. I felt sorry for him, because even thought we’re just watching—unintentionally—we felt how painful that surprise tackle of the Sinner have been. “My left shoulder blades were crunched. Bullshit, it’s damn painful,” Jeross again said. Quickly, one of his lackey from the Eagles had given him a special potion—that potion which would immediately, completely heal a person’s injury or illness. Jeross drank it, and in an instant, his painful, paralyzed arm where the shoulder blade was broken, can now be moved in its usual function. If only the formulation of this potion would be discovered in a human laboratory, or in a hospital, we wouldn’t be spending too much money in treatments whenever we have injuries or illnesses. It’s just a simple gulp away, and you are back being healthy and perfectly fine again. But I know, that would be almost impossible. “Sitri, we’ve got a plan on the bat.” Beside me, Valour has whispered, and told me those words. His eyes were still focused to the still-staring Sinners in our front, wary that they may just attack in a quick snap, while he was still talking to me. “What kind of plan?” “We let the small Sinners be dealt by every gangs. Us in the frontline, we have to deal with that huge demon over there. The boss.” “Wow, that’s kind of a very promising plan,” I sarcastically said. For a moment he stared at me as if I have seriously offended him with my reaction. Why? Isn’t it right? It wasn’t a surprising plan, or somehow could be used advantageously in our situation. I was just telling the truth, but since it was Valour and Solomon’s plan, I’ve got no choice but to agree onto it. The quick in a moment glaring of Valour towards me seems a wrong idea. Seconds after he stared at me, as if giving me a death glare, he suddenly flew out of my sight. Few men behind me shouted and grunted heavily when a big force crashed through them and make the m injured. I couldn’t immediately followed what has just happened, but when I did, I just realized that Valour was now being pinned down on the ground, squinting in pain, while a Sinner was above him, releasing a noticed smirk despite its long tongue out of its mouth, about to coil around my butler’s body. I did not let myself be in the state of shock once again. Luckily, I have been alerting myself that something like that would possibly happen. And so, I am not surprised anymore. Being shocked or surprised from that thing would cause a seconds of delay to your action. Because you would contemplate whether what to do next—to let the feeling of shock consume you, or to help that person who was attacked by the demon. But since I am prepared for it, I did not have any contemplations right on my mind, but I have only just a single sure thing to do that was already programmed on my mind. One of the twin jaded knives I am holding has travelled through the air after I threw it hard and forced. It pierced through the tip of the tongue of the Sinner which was about to touch Valour’s body, and it has been pinned down on the ground, as if a nail buried in a plywood. Now, the Sinner screeched from the pain that has surged through its long tongue. I took that as an opportunity to run, and within a split second, the second jaded knife I have on my hand has sliced through the neck of the Sinner. The sinner’s screeches stopped. Slowly, I watched how his head slipped off of its neck. Its body fell on the ground too. It fell above its own severed head, and there lie lifeless. Valour stood up above the ground. “You okay?” I asked. “Yeah. Thanks for that, Sitri.” Luckily, he wasn’t anywhere injured or felt pained. “Yeah sure. You owe me one,” I said with a smirk, and then, we focused back to the now a battlefield area. Just right after the Sinner attacking Valour, the other Sinners has decided to attack to the whole survivors to. They were a bit flustered and disoriented because of the sudden attacking that has happened to Valour, and the long-tongued Sinners has took that as an opportunity to attack them, so that they could gain advantage. Luckily, most of them was able to gain back their attentions, was able to fight the attacking Sinners or help those who have been attacked. “Shall we stick to your plan?” I asked after Valour gained his composure. I took a very quick glance to him, and saw him nodding. Not a far from us, we saw Jeross and Solomon already standing in front of the huge Sinner that has appeared from the red sky. The boss of the long-tongued Sinners. It was not moving, nor doing anything, but only to show off his terrifying, crooked smile, and flaunt off its python-sized tongue. Yet, I know for sure that any minute for now, it would start attacking Solomon and Jeross. “I guess we need to,” I said, “Or else there’ll be blood bath that might happen.”
