City 25

My mind suddenly went blank. I knew I was in the middle of a fight, and then in just a snap, my mind turned into nothingness. I don’t know how (I don’t even know why I was able to tell that my mind has gone blank), but I am aware that I am dreaming. I am inside a world that seems surreal. Darkness. Funny, because even though the whole surrounding was covered with eternal darkness, I can see my own body. I can not just feel my hands, but I can see it. Even my feet. A drop of water echoed in the surrounding. Am I inside a cave inside a dream? The whole place is quiet. It is making me feel uncomfortable. “Anyone?” I started muttering in the dark. “Gaston? Valour?” Yet, no one answered. Ah, right. I was inside of a dream. But what kind of dream was this that I already know that I am inside of it? Was this the thing people are calling lucid dreaming? Hah, I am having a very unique type of dreaming while my body was surely laying unconscious inside hell. Great. I closed my eyes in hope that I could go back being awake if I concentrate myself. But when I closed my eyes, something unexpected has occurred. Someone has called my name—“Sitri”—in whispers, besides my ears. What was that? I opened my eyes to find whether something or someone was in the place. But damn it, I could not find anyone. All I could see was the tender intensity of the darkness. Then I heard, “no, you’re not going back”, “no, you are all mine.” It has seriously terrified me not just because of the fact that the demonic voice was being carried away by a still wind, but also of the fact that it can see me even in this blinding darkness. Ah, right. This is all but just a dream. This is all but a fragment of my imaginative world. Damn it! I almost forgot it again, and I almost fall on that whispering trick! “How the hell can I make myself get rid of this dream?” I asked myself. I once again closed my eyes to try concentrating whether if I could go back to my real consciousness. However, the calling of my name beside my ears were really disturbing me a lot. It made me hard finding my concentration. Even though I know that concentrating doesn’t give me a concrete assurance that I can go back to the real world, I am still trying it. However, there was a demonic voice whispering my name. “Sitri,” it says. Then it became distant. “Sitri.” It repeatedly called my name in echoes of the darkness. Until I felt my body shaking. No, it’s not my body in this dark world, but my real body. “Sitri,” the demon called. “Sitri,” it became distant. “Sitri!” I gasped as I forcefully open my mouth in shock and terror. I … I was awake. “D—Demon,” I unconsciously muttered. “H—Hey, Sitri, I am not a demon, okay? I am Solomon. Hold tight, don’t let yourself fall into sleep again. Though I defeated the cat-head demon who caused us that, but just to make sure. We need to wake up the others too,” he said. He stood up, and went to a man beside me to start waking him as well. That was just a dream. It wasn’t terrifying at all, but I feel like I have just escaped a world of trauma. My thoughts hasn’t completely collected yet. I remained lying in the ground, trying to think if I was not able to wake up, what kind of nightmare would I be experiencing? Or … was that thing in my dream … already my nightmare? To be left alone, in the dark, where I became crazy because I don’t have anyone to speak from—a nightmare of being alone? I weakly looked at Solomon. “Demon,” I dryly whispered as I look at him.
