Chapter 35

I have to be honest: I was impressed by the way how Solomon and Jeross came and moved as soon as they thought we’ll be needing help. When the dusts have finally worn off away of us, I immediately saw what was happening in my front. Solomon and Jeross are skillfully fighting the humungous Sinners with just the use of their swords. By observance, I see that the way how Solomon handles his sword with fineness and stability. It was as if he has been holding sword for a long time already—or perhaps he already had background in terms of the art of sword. I don’t know. He wasn’t telling about it yet, but his the flow of his sword is magnificent to look at. On the other hand, the way how Jeross holds and swings his sword suggests that he had no idea how to hold it properly. As if he just had no choice but to use it in order to attack and protect himself. Yet, his brute force and his unfrightened style of attacking—with the sword—is what made him surviving until now. His moves doesn’t have a pattern unlike Solomon—he was just randomly slashing his sword along with his surprising physical strength, making any enemy he would fight with, would probably be surprised. “Ah shit.” I slapped my forehead in disappointment. I have enjoyed observing them move fast and swift while fighting the Sinner, that is why I almost forgot that I need to help them as well. They could not surely handle that creature if it was just the two of them. And so, I stood up. Chasing my breath, I ran towards Valour to check whether if he was fine or not. There I saw him, sitting on the ground. “Valour, are you okay?” I asked, confused of why he wasn’t standing. “Yeah, I’m fine,” he answered. However. I can sense the weariness and pain on his voice. Later then when I realized that it was because there was something that is happening to him. “Damn it, Valour.” I couldn’t help my body but to tremble in panic as I saw his right feet squeezed onto the ground with giant boulders that must have came from the impact of the Sinner’s smashing of tongue earlier. I was panicking as I sat down beside him, examining the giant boulders that was on the top of his right feet. “Can you move it?” I asked. Thought I know my insides were panicking, having no clue what to do next to help him, I tried to calm my voice as best as I can, so that I won’t cause panic at Valour too. “No. It’s heavy. I couldn’t feel my feet too. I think it was entirely crushed,” he said. “Shit.” “Don’t tell Solomon and Jeross. They’ll be distracted into what they’re doing. I need the both of them, and you, to focus killing that monster. I’ll be able to handle myself.” I shook my head. “No. I can’t left you behind being like this,” I said. Grabbing something from my belt pocket, I crushed an orange-colored pill. Sooner, a vial in my hand has appeared. Without any second thought, I gulped it straightly on my throat, and then waited for its effect. When I felt that my hand, and even my whole body as light as feather, I grabbed the boulders that was hindering his feet, and then tossed it away so that he’ll be free. I sighed hard when I saw that his feet was still intact, only that there were wounds and bruises on it, plus dislocated and crushed bones. Quickly, Vaolour grabbed a blue pill of a healing potion from his stash, and then straightly drank it. Valour stared at me as I wait for his total healing. “Sitri,” he called. I looked at him with worry and panic. “I don’t think this injury would be healed instantly. It would need to take time before it would effect,” he said. I noticed the suppressed flinching on his face, making me think that he is trying to hide the real pain he is feeling from his feet. “Then I’ll guard you until you can finally move.” From that, Valour weakly laughed. “You must have forgotten that I am your butler. I serve and guard you, not the inverse of it.” “Just shut up. What if a sinner attacks you and you’re still not fully healed.” “I have my sword. You must have underestimating me, isn’t it?” “No, I don’t. It’s just that you’re still wea—” “Look,” Valour stared directly at my eyes, and then shifted it toward the thing that is happening in the back. I checked what he was staring at. Then, I noticed how Jeross and Solomon was having a hard time fighting the Sinner. “They need more help, Sitri. If you would just sit here, guard me, and do nothing, you will be watching them die. Both Solomon and Jeross, and even the Vultures. It was you who told that we must finish that huge creature so that we could help our gang, right?” Having confusion and panic all mixed up in my chest, I bit my lower lip. Thinking of all the possibilities, I sighed, and then decided to stand up once again. I have to help both Solomon and Jeross. “Damn it, Valour. Why do you have to always act like a damsel in distress? You were always being needed to save in order for you to be kept alive.” Valour chuckled. “Maybe my past life’s a princess imprisoned in a dungeon while being mistreated by the evil queen,” he joked. “Shut up. Just make sure that you will hide well, Valour. Don’t let any Sinner attack or eat you whole. I’ll be back quick.” From my peripheral vision, I saw him saluting. “Yes, Ma’am.” I shook my head looking down on him, as if saying that I’m more superior, powerful, and skillful than him. Even though in reality, I wasn’t. Having fully decided, I started to leave and let him handle his own self. Holding my jaded knives, I charged towards the Sinner once again.
