Chapter 37

830 Words
The dusts swirled onto the surrounding, making us hard to breath. Added with the intensity of the hot temperature glaring from the surrounding (because this is hell!, it even became harder for us. We felt more uncomfortable and desperate. We were doing our best just to fight this huge Sinner in our front. It was definitely hard. We fought with our best, with our skills, and our whole knowledge in combat, yet, here the Sinner was, still standing, tongue was hanging from his mouth, claws are grown between its fingers, and smile was still unerased on its face. I could not move my attention away of him, because I am sure that just like other of this long-tongued Sinners in the surrounding, it would take any opportunity of us being inattentive to them, just to make sure that we will be either direly hit, or worse, be killed. However, my hearing senses has been flying in the whole surrounding, making me have attention to every noises that is erupting. Two kinds of noises are dominating in my ears: 1. The screeches of the Sinners as they felt pain, and 2. The screams of humans because of the pain inflicted to them. The first noise was okay for me. In fact, it was a relief for me. However, the second one completely bothers me. In fact, it was giving me a kind of unexplainable pain too. Maybe fear also. I am afraid that we will not make it in time. I am afraid that after our fight with this hilarious creature in our front, there will be total annihilation of our friends. That is surely frightening. Afraid that it might happen, I grasped my jaded knife, and then, I started attacking the Sinner once again. However, just before I s***h part of its body, its claws are already waiting for me, deflecting the tiny attack I was trying to made. One of my Jaded knives which I used to attack has flew away of my hands because of the impact. Afraid that there might be another second attack that will surely kill me, I quickly moved, and went back to where the three men was. I couldn’t even bother to retrieve my thrown jaded knife because I am too afraid that it might cause me my life. “Hey, got any plans?” I asked. Solomon, Jeross, and Valour were all breathing in exhaustion and distress. “How the hell can we have any plan, if that Sinner was almost like Achilles? It seemed impossible to die!” Jeross blurted out of stress. From his face, I can notice that he was now losing his patience because of the realizations that he have ben having. Perhaps, he must have also thought that we will be losing this battle. I’m not mad at him if he does, because honestly, that thought has been visiting my mind already. Yet, unlike him, I still have huge amount of hope that there will be miracle that would fall from the red heaven, and then save us from this misery. “What did you say?” Solomon asked. Hearing Solomon, Jeross suddenly froze from where he stood, and felt nervous. “N—Nothing,” Jeross answered. I couldn’t believe Solomon’s intimidating power. Everyone surely knows that we are in the middle of fighting horrifying monsters. Sinners. However, Jeross has never shown that kind of intimidated expression to any of the monsters, most especially to the huge Sinner in front of us. But, with just a simple question coldly thrown by Solomon, he has became like that. His intimidating power made me think that perhaps. if Solomon was our enemy, we would be more frightened and terrified than fighting the current Sinner we are trying to kill. “I am not trying to intimidate you, Jeross. I was asking a question about what you have just said earlier.” As if Solomon could read our minds, he immediately clarified his self. “I said …. It would be almost impossible to kill that damn creature if … if he was like Achilles. A warrior who is also almost impossible to kill and one who has abundant strength and could heal his wound in a snap time,” Jeross calmly replied, trying to measure Solomon’s mood. “But, you know, that Achilles has weakness, isn’t it?” “I—It has. But it’s a—” “Why don’t we try it?” he asked. We weren’t able to respond to him, when in a quick shot of second, his body jerked and plunged towards where the Sinner was standing. It was quick and inhumanly fast. Had he drank any kinds of potion, making him move in a godlike speed? Then, just before we knew, our jaws were dropped in surprise as we witness how the Sinner suddenly fell down the ground , unconscious, lifeless, defeated. How the hell … Achilles’ weakness worked to the creature?
