CHAPTER TWO

Shayne I woke up earlier than usual and went through my hygiene routine. Donning my black Nike tracksuit and a white t-shirt, I grabbed my Nike side bag and car keys before heading downstairs to the kitchen, which was empty. Stepping into the driveway, I climbed into my sleek black and blue Brabus. The drive to the coffee shop was uneventful, and I parked in the lot before entering the bustling establishment. Inside, I spotted a captivating girl immersed in a book. Taking a seat next to her, I cleared my throat, hoping to catch her attention, which I did. “Excuse me, sir, is there something I can assist you with?” she inquired, sincerity in her gaze. “Actually, I'm not a sir,” I corrected, feeling a tad embarrassed. “Oh, my apologies. I made an assumption based on your appearance and voice,” she explained, suppressing a laugh. Noticing the book she held, I remarked, “I see you're a fan of reading.” “Yes, I am,” she replied with a wide smile. Her smile was mesmerizing, her voice soft and sweet. She exuded natural beauty, her face free of makeup, her hair cascading in its natural state. She was effortlessly perfect. “Hey there, where are you lost?” she teased, snapping me out of my reverie. “Sorry, you're just too stunning,” I admitted, causing her to blush even more. “Anyway, I would like us to get to know each other?” I suggested, smirking. She nodded, handing me her contact details. As she entered her information into my phone, another person entered the coffee shop, scanning the area until her gaze landed on our table. “FRIEND!” she exclaimed loudly, making her way over to us.She sat opposite me, her eyes fixed on me. “Hey, Lisa,” the beautiful girl greeted with a laugh.“Friend, who's this handsome guy? I thought you only dated lesbians, not men,” Lisa remarked, biting her lip as she looked at me. “Lisa, she's not a guy; she's a lesbian,” the beautiful girl clarified, chuckling. “Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. You're just too handsome to be a girl,” Lisa apologized, winking at me. “Lisa, stop being forward and wait for me in the car,” the beautiful girl scolded. Her friend chuckled and left the table. “What's your name?” I asked. “I'm Stacey, and you?” she replied shyly. “I'm Shayne, but I prefer the name Leonardo,” I confessed. “Ah, so you're Leon. That's an awesome name,” Stacey said, blushing. “I should probably get going; my friend must be waiting for me,” she added, gathering her things.I smiled as she called the waiter over. “I'll pay, don't worry. You can go,” I insisted. “No, I can pay for myself,” she insisted firmly.I pleaded with my eyes, and finally, she relented. I paid for her order while she watched me intently. As the waitress returned to the counter, Stacey approached me, arms outstretched. Confused, I hesitated until she clarified. “Hug?” she offered a smile playing on her lips, revealing her dimples. Despite not being a fan of hugs, I couldn't resist her. I leaned in, wrapping my arms around her, feeling a warmth spread through me as our embrace lingered. As our embrace ended, Stacey pulled away with a radiant smile. I couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement in my chest at the prospect of getting to know her better. “Thank you for the hug,” she said softly, her eyes sparkling. “My pleasure,” I replied, trying to contain my own excitement. Stacey gathered her belongings, and we made our way out of the coffee shop together. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the bustling streets. “So, Leonardo, what brings you to this coffee shop today?” Stacey asked, falling into step beside me. I glanced at her, noticing the way her hair danced in the gentle breeze, and smiled. “Just seeking some inspiration, I suppose. What about you?” “Same here, actually. I often come here to read and unwind,” she explained, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. We walked in comfortable silence for a while, the sounds of the city surrounding us. I couldn't shake the feeling of connection I felt with Stacey, as if we were meant to meet on that fateful day. “So, Stacey, do you have any hobbies or interests besides reading?” I inquired, breaking the silence. She nodded, her eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. “I love photography. Capturing moments and memories is like magic to me.” “Wow, that's amazing. Do you have any favorite subjects to photograph?” I asked, genuinely intrigued. “Nature mostly. There's something so pure and beautiful about the outdoors,” she replied, a hint of nostalgia in her voice. As we continued our conversation, I found myself drawn to Stacey more and more. Her passion for life and her genuine kindness were evident in every word she spoke. Before I knew it, we had reached her car parked nearby. Stacey turned to me, a soft smile playing on her lips. “Well, Leonardo, it was really nice meeting you. Thank you for the company,” she said, her eyes searching mine. “The pleasure was all mine, Stacey. Perhaps we could do this again sometime?” I suggested, hoping she would agree. Her smile widened, and she nodded. “I would like that.” With a final goodbye, Stacey got into her car and drove off, leaving me standing on the sidewalk, feeling lighter than air. As I made my way back to my own car, thoughts of Stacey filled my mind. I couldn't shake the feeling that she was someone special, someone who had the power to change my life in ways I couldn't yet imagine. With a smile on my face and a newfound sense of optimism in my heart, I drove home. As I arrived home, the sight of numerous cars parked in the driveway caught my attention, with a purple Porsche standing out among them. After parking near it, I retrieved my phone from my pocket, noticing Lorraine's name flashing on the screen. With a sigh, I answered, bracing myself for her usual exuberance. "What the f**k, Lorraine?" I muttered as her excited voice blasted through the phone. "Sorry, Leon," she apologized sincerely, her tone slightly sheepish. "Fine, why did you call me?" I asked, trying to mask my annoyance. "I called to ask if you've found a girl you like?" she inquired eagerly. "Yes, I have, but don't get too excited," I replied, feeling a mixture of apprehension and excitement about sharing the news with her. "Spill the tea, Shayne! Who's the lucky girl?" Lorraine pressed, her curiosity piqued. I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. But knowing Lorraine, she wouldn't let it go until she got all the details. "Her name's Stacey," I finally divulged, feeling a rush of nervous energy as I spoke her name aloud. "Stacey, huh? Sounds intriguing. Tell me everything!" Lorraine exclaimed, her enthusiasm contagious. I chuckled, appreciating her excitement despite my initial reservations. "Well, let's just say we met at the coffee shop, and there's something about her that caught my eye." Lorraine gasped dramatically. "Ooh, a coffee shop romance! I love it! You have to tell me all the juicy details, Shayne." I smiled, grateful for Lorraine's unwavering support. "I'll fill you in later, Lor. Right now, I need to process everything myself." "Of course, take your time. But don't keep me waiting too long!" she teased before we said our goodbyes. As I hung up the phone, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement mingled with apprehension. Sharing the news with Lorraine had made it feel more real, and I couldn't wait to see where this newfound connection with Stacey would lead.
