RUN

710 Words
All I can hear is my heart pounding in my ears. My eyes are filled with tears, I can't see anything. Keep running, don't stop. Sloan voice echoes in my head. She is my wolf, and she is as startled as I am. Tonight didn't go as planned. I can still feel his hands on my neck. Stop it! Don't think, run! I push even harder. A gunshot is hidden by thunder and now it's raining. The warm wetness of blood is replaced by the cold rain water. Blood, too much blood. I lost track of how much was mine, and how much was his. I allow myself to get lost in my thoughts and I go back to the day I met him. I didn't even like him at first, I thought he was funny looking and to be frank, even a bit dull and boring. He approached me with a warm smile, his brown eyes shined with promise and expectations. His voice was friendly, but Sloan thought he was a little too friendly. That actually made her suspicious. I should have listend to her. I should have walked away. But insted I accepted his dinner invitation. Watch out! Sloan's cry pulled me back to reality. I crashed into a light post and fell. GET UP DAMN IT! FOCUS! She was mad. - I... I'm sorry I... Listen Alex, I know you are shocked. I am too. But please, we need to keep going. We must survive. WE MUST. She is right. I get up. My chest feels tight, my lungs are struggling to keep up, I'm wet and bleeding, but I can still hear them chasing after me. - They don't give up! Quickly to the river. We are gonna have to go for it. I hate it, but she is right. They don't like water. That much I know. I can see the bridge on the distance. Another shot this time it sounder closer. Damn it! On an other time I would have out run them on a blink. All the f*****g things I left behind because of him. How stupid can one become for love. Ugh! How blind! I left so much. I was a goddamned Alpha! A female Alpha. I was one of a kind, female alphas are born once every turn of the century. We are not meant to rule as a Lunas. No. I was the heiress of the pack. They were ment to bow to me, follow my lead. We will lead. But first survive. There's the bridge, jump. -No, wait. Do it, Alex! Now, they are coming. -Wait! I look up, and see the sky lit by lightning and timmed my jump with the roar of thunder. The cold water hitting my face made little difference, I allow the river current to carry me and I hid behind some boulders so I could still see the bridge, but I was safely hidden by shadow. I waited. Sloan was silent but I could feel her get restless. She wanted to leave, but I needed to make sure. Not even a minute later, a group of 6 men appeared running over the bridge. The sound of water splashing didn't allow me to hear what they were saying, but they eventually left. I was safe for the moment. I found a branch, grabbed it, and allowed the current to drag me down river. I needed to catch my breath. I float for a while after I stopped seeing the city lights. I start feeling sleepy, and I realice is time to leave the water. I could become hipothermic otherwise. I swam to shore, and immediatly start undressing. I need to keep the heat on my body, and cold, weat clothes are not good for that. I look around. I am on a wooden area, there seems to be nothing or no one around. The best way to keep warm was shifting. I hadn't shift in so long, that Sloan jumped at the first glimpse of the idea. Let me out. She pleds, her voice is filled with expectation and excitement. I can feel her bursting, pushing, scratching every inch of my brain. I laugh and suddenly my laugh becomes a howl. Sloan is free.
