Delia eyelashes flickered as the ray of sunlight reflected on her face. She moaned softly as she sprang up, feeling sore pains all over her body but her body felt lighter than usual.
She looks around scratching her hair as she finds herself in her old bedroom in her parents house. She jumped off the bed immediately, screaming as she wondered how she got to the bedroom.
She remembered being in the hospital, the sly face on Sophia's face, and feeling of betrayal but the question baffling her is how she ended up in her old bedroom.
Delia suddenly felt dizzy as she hastily held onto the mirror stand. Why is she suddenly weak? Did they terminate her baby successfully? And how did she get into her old room particularly? What's going on?
The sound of laughter brought Delia back to reality from the dizziness she was feeling as she made her way downstairs to the living room. She got downstairs to meet her parents having breakfast, smiling as they used to.
"Delia, what are you doing here? Come downstairs for breakfast, and aren't you going to school today?" Maria asked, her voice cheerful. The cheerful voice she hasn't heard in years.
"But wait, did she just say school?" Delia questioned herself silently as she widened her eyes as if she had been into an eternal nightmare. She hasn't been in school in years, and she was a married woman so how come she's going to school.
Delia sluggishly went upstairs trying to comprehend what just happened. She got inside her room and her eyes got fixed on the calendar on the nightstand. She hastily grasp onto it, her eyes widening in shock. It was 2018. How could that be? How is that possible because she remembered the year was 2023 so how come it's 2018.
She took her phone on the nightstand and confirmed it was truly 2018 which means just one thing. She has been reborn, reborn to five years ago, to the year her life changed, the year she went missing and everything just felt like a loop to her.
Her parents' voice began to fade in the background. She was given a second chance but why? Was she given a chance to change her fate?
Realizing the fact that she has been reborn, her mind has processed the new development and this time around she's determined to change her life, amend the mistakes she made in her previous life and how she's going to avoid those mistakes.
A phone starts ringing interrupting her thoughts as she hesitated for a moment before standing up to take the phone. She checked the caller ID and her heart skipped a beat, seeing Sophia's name boldly written on the screen.
Delia thought of ignoring the call remembering what Sophia did to me, having her affair with her husband when she had a fiancée but changed her mind as she picked the call. "I know we have a morning lecture to attend this morning, I'm on my way already,' Delia said, and cut the call giving her no chance to talk.
She let out a deep breath, and calmed herself. She hastily got dressed and left the house, heading to school.
On her way to school, Delia couldn't shake off the feeling that she is going to get kidn*pped today. She couldn't stop thinking of how it happened and how she's going to escape her terrible fate.
She arrived at the school and paid the cab. She got inside the school to see Sophia waiting for her. Her heart skipped her beat. She clenched her fists and vow to pay Sophia multiple of what she has to do to her.
Delia took a deep breath and walked towards Sophia, trying to act normal.
"Good morning, Delia," Sophia greeted. Delia gazed at her, seeing a smile on her face but she felt uncomfortable with the smile feeling it's not genuine.
Delia nodded, and Sophia tried touching Delia's hair but she flinched, her mind racing back to the memories of how Sophia mistreated her. The memories were so vivid, how Sophia betrayed her felt like a fresh pain to her, the blind trust her parents had in Sophia. Her heart ached from what had happened in the past, and Sophia hands on her hair felt like salt on her wounds.
Her eyes brimmed with tears as she avoided Sophia's hand. "I'm late for class,"
Delia starts walking leaving her behind. She cleaned her tears, sniffing her hard. Delia began to wonder why her parents took in Sophia, how she lost her memories and how her parents did not bother searching for her until she regained her memory and went in search of them.
Sophia was showered with love but Delia got nothing from them if not insult and embarrassment. Delia couldn't understand why her parents suddenly turned against her. She began to wonder how she would escape her terrible fate staring at her in the face? How could she prevent her parents from taking Sophia in? How could she prevent Sophia from manipulating her parents again? And how could she regain her parents' love and trust?
Delia went for class and after class, she started heading home and couldn't shake off the feeling of unease building inside her. She noticed a car following her behind, and she quickly hastened her steps.
Suddenly the car halted making a loud screech as she flinched, screaming. Before she knew it, she was kidn*pped, and knew that it was that kidnap that made her go missing and lost her memories
The black sedan car drove speedily and alight at her place. Delia's face was blindfolded as she dragged to a place.
She was tied to a chair before the men removed the blind fold from her face and Delia saw their faces.
Remembering this incident vividly, she started thinking back and remembered how she could have escaped if she was calm that time.
As the hours passed, she looked around the room, taking in every detail. One of the masked men approached her and stuffed papers in her mouth, Delia spat the papers out, then spat on his face.
"Bastard,"
He hit her face and was about to hit her when he was stopped by some other men in the room. He glared at her before walking away.
Delia looked at the note on the floor and read the words written on it. "Eliminate her, I don't want to see her"
As Delia looked at the note, she saw a small symbol in the corner. It was a faint mark, an initial. It was looking familiar and she couldn't comprehend where she saw those initials from.
She looked around in the room and seeing that the men were not much in the room, it's her time to run. Delia starts crying, pretending to be sobbing as she thrash her head side to side.
The guards exchanged glances and one of them took a step closer to her.
"Shut up," he barked.
But Delia didn't stop. She continued to sob and thrash about, making it seem like she was on the verge of a breakdown. The guards looked at each other uncertainty, clearly not sure how to handle the situation.
Just then Delia saw her chance. She suddenly stopped crying and made a run for it, dashing towards the small c***k in the wall she had spotted earlier. The guards were caught off guard, and it took them a moment to react.
"Stop her!" one of them shouted, but Delia was already squeezing through the c***k, her heart pounding in her chest.
As soon as Delia get out of the hole successfully she starts running as fast her legs could take her. They were chasing after her but she was able to outsmart her captors by sliding her fragile body under a car. As soon as she saw their legs running. She snuck out and flagged down a taxi, and hid inside the taxi.
"Where to ma'am?"
"To NEON Estate," Delia responded, her voice shaking as she urged him to start driving, which he did immediately.
As the taxi drove, Delia searched her pocket for cash or her phone but she found squeezed papers in her pocket. She brought it out, smoothing the paper to see some words scribbled on it.
She read the words and couldn't figure out what the words were all about. She tilted her neck trying to remember where she saw those words and initials and suddenly it clicked. It was the same initials she saw on the papers the guards put in her mouth.
But where did she see the paper from? Then it occurred to her that Sophia was the one that gave her the paper to keep during lectures. Delia gazed at the paper and shut her eyes. She had thought her k********g was coincidence and natural not knowing it was a set up.
The initials on the paper in her hand and the one guards put in her mouth was the same initials which meant one thing, Sophia was the one behind the k********g from the beginning.
