“So Damon, I hope you are doing enough to enable you earn back your inheritance? Gregory Ryker, Damon’s father asked, while they were having breakfast the next day. There were varieties of food laid out on the table, but Damon instantly lost his appetite. He wondered why his father had to bring up that topic right now. Basma Ryker, his mum also looked up from her plate to see Damon’s reaction as well as his answer. Damon hated his father for the sole reason that he loved to control his life, using the façade ‘its for your own good.’ He always thought about it, and wondered why he does that to his own son. “Dad, I have a girlfriend. Damon said and Basma coughed. He looked at his mum, and concluded that she just didn’t believe him. He wasn’t surprised by her reaction. He didn’t ever get serious with any of his past flings anyways. “Since you think we are fools, why don’t you bring her to the house and make an introduction then? I am sure everyone is curious to know who the lucky girl that the heir of the Ryker family is interested in to the point of a relationship.” His father said while smirking in amusement. He looked into his father’s gunmetal blue eyes in a challenging manner, “sure, you all will see her one of these days.” He said, not bothered about the little gasps and looks of suspicion he was getting for saying that. Its not like this was his first time of receiving such looks from his family members. They always wanted to look like the picture-perfect family in the eyes of the public, and despite the frustration he was getting from his family, he always tried to convince his them that he could run the company and bring it to new heights even without the business collaborations and arranged marriage they were offering, but no, they decided that it won’t be happening that way. He knew what he could offer for the growth of that company, but his father just didn’t trust him. “Well, why not tomorrow dear? Its going to be Friday, so you can bring her tomorrow evening as it’s the beginning of the weekend, to stay over and spend the weekend.” His Aunt suggested putting on a façade he could clearly see through. His aunt never liked the fact that it wasn’t her son who was being announced as the heir of the company, as she thought he was not fit for the position, because he had a bad name in secondary school, but she had no choice, because her son wasn’t a Ryker. He couldn’t understand their need for bringing the past into this, as he just made the most of his teenage years. He just had fun. Why couldn’t they just let go? And his grandmother. The head. She said that he didn’t even have to get married, just had to prove that he was in a serious relationship and that’s the main reason he was in that restaurant the day before, searching with his eyes until he caught the scene. “s**t!” he said for only his ears as he ruffled his hair. “What’s wrong Damon? I’m sure that’s not too much work now huh?” his father said, further annoying him. How could he bring someone over for the weekend when he hadn’t even come to an agreement with her? Tomorrow was the day they planned to meet, and he didn’t even know if she would go through with the plan or even show up. That girl was very deceitful and tomorrow was too close to present a girl. He didn’t even have contacts to the girls he had flings with as he didn’t see the need because he wasn’t emotionally attached. He never bothered with women and only played with them as he knew what they wanted. Money, and pretend they are in love with the men, the men fall, they leave them behind taking their money, rendering the men bankrupt. He had seen a lot of damaged relationships, and promised himself not to be part of it. He would never be played, instead he would be the player. And this Elvia girl, he would give her what she wanted, but he would make sure to laugh in her face when the time comes. ‘Elvia, be ready, because you wouldn’t be the boss of me or take over this relationship with your little threats. You wouldn’t make decisions even if its contracted. You will have to listen to me child.’ he smirked. “Ok then. Your daughter in-law is coming over for the weekend. Do make preparations, as you don’t want to let our family down now do you? He threw the sarcastic statement to his dad and aunt. He got up went around the table and gave his mum a peck on the cheek and walked out of the house with a smirk on his face as he didn’t miss the shocked expression on his aunt’s face. Off to get the contract prepared.
