Chapter 9

A neutral red dress with a high neckline was the dress Elvia decided to wear for the introduction. The dress exuded sophistication and grace. The subtle hue complemented her delicate features, while the intricate lace detailing added a touch of charm to her ensemble. She paired the dress with classic nude low heels, emphasizing her silhouette and adding a hint of understated glamour to her look. With a simple pearl necklace and matching earrings, there was a subtle sparkle to her outfit, completing her refined appearance for the fancy family. She didn’t forget what Damon told her. To look graceful and sophisticated. She simply chose to obey him, but being simple while doing so. She didn’t want to appear desperate in order to impress his family. This was just an agreement anyways. Not like it was real or anything like that and even if they didn’t like her, the deal was signed already and they couldn’t change that. ‘knock, knock’ the sound of knocking brought her out of her thoughts. “is that you mum? Come in” she said and her mum walked in. “you are looking beautiful baby. Where are you going honey” her mum asked and she smiled. “thank you mum. I am going out with friends and yes, don’t worry, I will try not to be home late.” She averted her eyes pretending to fix her dress as she knew she was lying and she didn’t like lying to her mum, but she just had to. She didn’t apply much makeup as she knew she was already pretty. Just powder, some highlighter and blush and pink lipstick to complete everything. “Alright dear, please keep your phone close to you so I can always get you if I call ok?” “ok mum” Elvia replied as she let down her shiny brunette hair down. She got her hair done earlier in the day after shopping. Her hair cascaded down her back and went a little after her waist to her bum. “Your hair is one of your most prized possession dear. People always asked how I maintained it, not knowing it is naturally shiny. You look beautiful darling, your look is simple yet classy and that’s what’s more sophisticated.” Maggie complimented her daughter. “thanks a lot mum” Elvia smiled genuinely as her mum’s comment boosted her confidence. “I see tonight is for someone special?” her mum asked, curiosity dancing in her eyes. Elvia looked at her mum, and laughed at how cute she looked when she was curious. She walked up to her closet to look for a matching bag, “No mum, just a formal outing with some friends, you know, meeting new faces and introductions and also helping a friend.” She said to her mum, only telling her half-truth as she didn’t really want to get her mum involved in her outrageous deal with a billionaire. For outsiders it may seem like she settled for desperate means to earn money, but to her, this was a new experience that not everyone got to have. She wanted to know the outcome of this journey as it felt like a movie. She didn’t want her mum all worked up worrying about her wellbeing, so she decided to keep her out of it, at least until it was annulled. She knew her mum would be shocked to find out she was going out with the heir of the Ryker’s Elite Hotel Chains, and didn’t want to give her anymore to think of. She didn’t care what people would say even if they found out, as she was still decent despite her role as a fake girlfriend. She made it clear in their contract that everything was purely a sham and there would be no intimacy or physical contact between them. She had cleared it up with him to not pull any stunts and it seemed he was a man she could trust. “Darling, come with me.” Maggie told her daughter and saw her turn around still not with any befitting bag. “Ok mum.” Elvia wondered why her mother was calling her and closed the closet and followed her mum out of her room. They both went to her mum’s rum, and her mum rummaged her closet looking for something and found a bag. “Here, use this instead. It would be a better match for your outfit, and its of a very high quality.” Maggie said to her daughter. “oh my gosh mum. It is really of very high quality. Are you sure you want to give this?” Elvia asked, unsure if she should take it. “Take it darling. Anything for you” Maggie said. “thanks a lot mum, I really appreciate this” Elvia was very grateful as she hugged her mum. “its nothing” Maggie said. Nothing?! The bag was of very unmistakable high quality and expensive as well. “it is mum, and I promise to return it very safe and with no scratch” Elvia said as she put her needed materials inside the bag. “no honey, its yours from now on ok?” her mum said which stunned her. “but mum this bag belongs to you and its very expensive and doesn’t even look like you have used it once.” Elvia said. “Accept it as my gift dear. I know I wasn’t there all the time to spoil you with gifts, but I am back now and I will do what I missed out on doing before. I don’t know how to make up for lost times, but I am trying” Maggie said with tears in her eyes. “oh mum. I have makeup on and I don’t want to smudge it, but I want you to know that because of you, even if you weren’t here, I was feeding very well. I never lacked anything and I am grateful. I understand that you needed to leave to stable our lives, and that you are my mum. The most important thing is that we are together and that is all that really matters.” Elvia said to her mum. “Thank you for being so smart Elvia. You are a wonderful daughter and I couldn’t ask for any other one. Now before we become emotional messes, time to go as your friends might be waiting for you. Do have fun.” Maggie said with a small laugh. “I will mum, thank you and see you soon” Elvia walked out of the house with confidence oozing from her as she looked like a model. Maggie’s eyes followed her daughter until she couldn’t see her again, “I love you little Elvie.” She smiled and went back to what she was doing earlier.
