Elvia didn’t notice that Clinton already left their table. She was left all alone, lost in her own world. The man didn’t even wait to hear her answer.
She felt the burning sensation inside her heart and suddenly felt like she was suffocating.
Two plus years of her life, that’s what she had spent with Clinton and she couldn’t believe that he could spew those words so easily.
What in heaven’s name was he talking about? She couldn’t possibly believe his excuse that he woke up one day and found himself not in love with her anymore.
Something must have happened or maybe he met another woman. Just the mere thought of that, Elvia felt like her heart was crumpling.
She didn’t even notice that tears were already making their way to her cheeks. she never thought that she would be feeling such pain in her heart at anytime during their relationship. They were happy. atleast she was. they never had problems that they couldn’t sort out or solve, and she and Clinton never slept at night with problems.
Elvia thought her relationship was picture perfect, and she just couldn’t help but feel extremely confused concerning what just happened.
There were a whole bunch of questions inside her mind, but she didn’t know if it was still worth asking or knowing the answers to those questions because Clinton obviously put everything to an end. He drew a line to their relationship.
Immediately, anger engulfed her heart because she felt that the man hadn’t been honest with her. Clinton might have been meeting with another woman and that’s why he suddenly broke up with her without a reasonable explanation.
Everything he said was f****d up. The words he spewed were just bullshit so she just couldn’t foolishly fall for them.
She was about to grab a napkin on the table to wipe away her tears when suddenly the chair on which Clinton was sitting moved, and a handkerchief was offered to her.
Elvia snapped her head at the owner of the hand, thinking that Clinton was back to tell her that it was a prank, but unfortunately, she was wrong.
“Here,” the man said in a deep voice. His midnight black eyes met her hazel eyes, and she couldn’t help but wonder who he was.
Her brows were knitted together in a frown while staring at the handkerchief he was offering.
Even If she was in an unfortunate situation because of the pain that was caused by Clinton’s action, she couldn’t just let down her guard, as she was vulnerable at the moment, and it was a golden opportunity for them to do something bad to her.
“Take it and wipe your tears off. Your face already has an ugly black line, so you might want to take a good look at yourself. People’s eyes are directed at us, and I wouldn’t want them misunderstanding the situation, thinking I made you cry. Fix your face or I will do it for you”
She raised her eyebrows at the guts of the man, commanding her as if she was his to listen, so Elvia didn’t make any effort to take the kerchief.
She didn’t have the time to spare for a proud man who is too full of himself. Who did he think he was? why would she even talk to a stranger? Elvia held herself from rolling her eyes, as she didn’t know what this man was capable of doing to her.
Once again, she felt her blood boiling in anger which was directed towards Clinton for leaving her all alone to face this kind of situation and fear slowly creeped into her because of the man in front of her.
“I don’t bite. I am also not a bad guy” he said and then tossed the handkerchief to her which she caught. “go and wipe your tears before you look more hideous” he added which made her eyes go wide.
How could he act familiar? They weren’t even close.
“Mr, listen. I don’t even know you. So why should I even obey you?” she said, as she couldn’t restrain herself anymore because of the character man in front of her was exhibiting. He was an unknown person as far as she was concerned, and he was offering the care she never asked for.
“Quit blabbering and bring your voice down. You’ve already dragged enough attention to our table. It's enough.” He said while looking at her.
“OUR?!! Who made this ‘OUR’ table?” She said more loudly than before.
She suddenly felt her heart pounding because of the piercing way he looked at her. The atmosphere suddenly rose up a few degrees as she felt sweat trickling down her back at the intense gaze he was giving her.
She let out a defeated sigh and wiped her face with the handkerchief because her instinct told her that he wouldn’t stop pestering her until she did it.
“Thank you” she still said to the man, and even if ‘though I never asked for your help’ was what she wanted to add, she didn’t. she suddenly stood up to leave, but the man had other plans in mind. He held her hand, and stopped her from leaving.
She felt a sensation, which she shoved away as her mind playing tricks on her because of what Clinton did to her.
She looked at their hands and asked, “yes sir? How can I help you?” she was looking at him, while wondering why her heart was beating erratically.
What if this man would harm her? Even if he attacks now, how would she even fight him off? Based on the man’s physique, he looked muscular and he was also tall to top it all. Though he looked like a pretty decent person, assassins these days also look decent. He was wearing a grey suit and tie, and moreover she didn’t think of any possible thing that would make the man want to hurt her.
“I haven’t finished with you” he said and she frowned hard. She gave him a questioning look. What in heavens name did he want from her? “please return to your seat” he added, and she subconsciously sat down back without taking her eyes of the man.
“What is it that you want please?” she asked. Nervousness engulfing her, and she took a glass of water from the table and gulped it down to calm her nerves.
“Simple, be my girlfriend” The man said, going straight to the point.
