Ethan ripped the beacon from my dress hem with a sharp, violent jerk, tearing through the silk before slamming his boot down onto the stone floor to crush the microscopic chip into fine dust. "Don't move," he growled. Before I could even choke out a response, the heavy hydraulic systems in the walls hissed like dying beasts. The titanium blast doors at both ends of the narrow stone corridor dropped with a series of deafening metallic thuds, sealing the space in absolute, heavy darkness.
