Tell me...

196 Words
People assume a lot From the way I look The way I dress The grades I get My attitude here Compared to how it may differ there But do they really even know me? Do they even dare give a care to uncover me? Sometimes I am saddened and disappointed at their assumptions, Other times they go too far, Sometimes they are right on point, But most times they miss the bar. But do they really know me? At this rate, do I? I am my own person, Determined and strong, I admire simple things, Especially on things that people are super biased on,  and have predecided premature assumptions. It's part of the reason why I love Pride and Prejudice. Take me away to a simpler time, You know the way a book can, Where you can run away from sour comments. Where you can be free to just be, Without their hindering assumptions Impeding me, That apply limitations, Strip away opportunities, Kill life's joy and assign musts. Like the parents that decide their kid's careers,  As a society, we handicap each other, Often oppress and berate each other. But for me? I refuse to be battered and abused,  Instead, like a caged bird begging to be free   I fly. Fly high into the sky, Into a simpler time, To the land of far far away, To where life is limitless and love is applied.
