Michael's POV
My mother remained in the kitchen while I helped Jack get unpacked in her guest room. It was better that he stay here than at the manor. Jack and my father had never gotten along, and I was certain that they never would.
Jack stopped respecting my father when he found out that my father was the reason for my mother's bruises. On the day of our graduation, Jack promised to make my father pay for what he put my mother through.
"Are you sure your mom won't mind me staying here?" Jack asked.
