“You witch! How dare you eat up the baby you managed to give my son after so many years!” Isabella yelled at Sophia, giving her a resounding slap.
She continued, glaring, “Hadn't Ethan warned you about doing house chores here? But your stubbornness wouldn't let you listen to him. Now you have taken the life of his only child, and he's left with nothing when his mates are thinking of having their third child.”
Sophia held her cheek where Isabella had slapped her. She gave Isabella a deadly gaze, her fist tightened, and her heart clutched. She felt like squeezing life out of this monster for good.
She caused all this, and now she's putting on an act. Witch!
Still feeling the pain of losing her baby, Sophia rushed to Isabella, gripping her clothes tightly, “You did this! You caused me to lose my child! You were the one who pushed me down, say the truth! Didn't you? Please, bring back my child, I beg of you.” She cried.
But Isabella pushed her away, pretending, “What are you talking about? You ate up the child in you, and now you're accusing me? How dare you!”
“You and I know what I'm talking about! You're the witch here. You killed my child! Bring it back!” Sophia continued, crying harder.
“Have you gone mad or something, Sophia?” Ethan finally stood up and interrupted, daggering Sophia with cold eyes for accusing his mother. “How dare you accuse my mother of what you caused?”
“No, Ethan!” Sophia shook her head instantly, “I’m not mad, neither am I accusing your mother. She's a murderer! She killed our baby! Yes, she did! Believe me!”
Ethan quickly glanced at his mother, Isabella, who quickly shook her head and dramatically started to cry. “Ethan, I can't believe this…how can you stand and watch your wife accuse me of killing your child? Haven't I been expecting a grandchild? Wasn't I happy the day I found out she was pregnant? How can you let her accuse me this way?” She wept emotionally.
“Don't listen to her, Ethan. She's a lia—” Sophia tried to protest, but before she could even finish her words, a forceful slap that sent her gracelessly to the ground landed across her face twice.
Smack! Smack! Ethan was the person who slapped her with an icy expression.
Sophia groaned in pain as she fell down and her head crashed on the ground. She looked at Ethan with disbelief crossing her face.
This was her husband, and he didn't believe her. Rather, he believed her son's words over hers.
“You witch! How dare you! What gave you the guts to accuse my mother of that sort?!” Ethan's anger flared. After killing his child, she still had the nerve to accuse his mother of being responsible. She must be crazy!
“I'm a father of no children today because of you!” Ethan continued, pointing his finger angrily at Sophia, “I waited for some many years for you to give me a child—just one at least. But now, you ended everything—you killed it. And here you are….” His muscles tensed behind him. He forced himself to continue, but couldn't, and he burst into weeping.
Isabella leaned down to Ethan and tapped his back, “Sorry, son, this wouldn't have happened if she had listened to you, but she always wants to do what pleases her. I'm sorry.”
Sophia retorted from the ground, “No, Ethan. You're wrong; I didn't kill our baby, but your…” She couldn't finish her words as she felt a sharp pain within. She was in so much pain right now, more than ever.
If only Ethan would believe and have a little trust in her, she wanted to tell him everything that had happened—how Isabella, his mother, pushed her down, wishing she would lose their baby, and it happened—just everything!
But no, Ethan was blindly led by emotional words from his mother.
Gasping for air and clutching her body, she struggled to stand up. Walking closer to touch Ethan to console him from crying, Ethan yelled at her, “Don't! Don't touch me!” He shifted backward, and Sophia gasped, stunned.
With a cold and dark expression, Ethan said, “I think this is over between us, Sophia! I can't continue in this marriage. This has to end today and now!”
Boom! It felt like a heavy bomb exploded inside of her. Her stomach raced, and her heart skipped as she struggled to comprehend the words.
“No, Ethan. You can't do—” Sophia stuttered, her eyes narrowing. Her vision blurred with endless tears.
Without letting her finish, Ethan walked away. Once he was out of sight, Isabella clapped, smirking, “Oh yeah! Finally, she's going to leave for good.” She said, celebrating.
Sophia burned her with her gaze, but she couldn't say a word and let tears stream down her cheeks. This woman is so cruel that she feels like tearing her apart.
“Now is the time,” Isabella pressed, her smirk widening as she took out her phone and dialed a number, “you can come to the house now; everything is finalized.”
