“This is it, Sophia.” Ethan handed some papers to Sophia, and he added, “I want you to sign them; this marriage can't work anymore.” His voice was cold as he said
Sophia's eyes rolled over the papers in disbelief. How could Ethan believe his mother over her? His mother caused everything, and he wants to divorce her?
Raising an eyebrow at Ethan, Sophia spoke, “Ethan? How can you do this to me? Don't I deserve a chance to explain everything to you? This is our baby we're talking about here; I'm in more pain than you are. Can't you just hear me out?” Her lips trembled.
Ethan looked away, unmoved. “I don't want any explanation from you,” he shook his head, “or what else do you want to tell me? Tell me how you, out of recklessness, killed my child, huh?”
Sophia shook her head sideways, “At least to hear the truth. Let me tell you what actually happened and how it happened.”
“I don't want to hear!” Ethan shouted, making sure his voice echoed in the living room, “Just sign the papers and leave my life!”
Sophia was startled, and her eyebrow furrowed in surprise, “Really?” She maintained and roughly wiped off her teary eyes, “You want to do this? You believed what your mother said over mine?” Her eyes rounded in rage.
Ethan didn't reply to her this time. Then she turned to Isabella, who feigned at once, “Happy now? After killing my child, your supposed grandchild, I'm finally being thrown out. She let out a bitter chuckle. “Now you can have everything and even Ethan to yourself.”
Isabella's nose flared in fury. She clenched her teeth and replied, “Oh, stop it! Don't you blame me for your carelessness?”
Just then, the door to the living room swung open, and a lady around the age of twenty-one, gorgeously dressed in a pink gown with a bag hanging around her shoulder, walked in with heels. Her face was thick with makeup, complementing her beauty.
Seeing her, Isabella smiled to herself. This was Anna, the lady whom she had called earlier.
“Hey, Ethan,” Anna ran her fingers romantically on Ethan's face. She feigned her voice, “I heard what happened. How this witch terminated the only child she was about to give to you after so many years, so I sympathize.”
Ethan looked at Isabella, and she quickly said, “No, Ethan. Don't get the wrong impression here. Anna was kind enough to check how you were doing, and I couldn't help but tell her everything.”
“Yes.” Anna supported her immediately, nodding her head. “So, don't tell me you're still going to keep her as your wife after everything she has done.”
Anna was Ethan's childhood friend who was dying to be with Ethan, but he had left her to marry Sophia. Meanwhile, Isabella had promised Anna that she was going to make the marriage between them possible, but at a price.
$100,000!
Since Anna was a rich businesswoman and was desperate to be with Ethan, she agreed to pay Isabella to accomplish the task. And now, it's successful!
“Don't worry, Anna, my child.” Isabella interjected with a mischievous smile, “Ethan just handed her the divorce papers, waiting for her to sign.”
“Oh, and what is she waiting for?” Anna turned to Sophia and said, mockingly, “Are you so desperate to be Ethan's forever, even after eliminating his child? Come on, don't be so shameless!”
Sophia glared at her but couldn't say a word. This was no time to exchange words with someone like her.
As Anna tried to press on, Ethan called after her, “Anna, that's enough.” He walked to her, and Anna's eyes widened in shock, afraid that Ethan was still going to stand by this woman's side.
Sophia glanced at her, slightly feeling excited with the thought that Ethan was ready to go back on his decision.
However, to the greatest twist, Ethan held Anna's hand softly, his grip sending emotions to hers. Anna widened in shock and surprise.
Sophia's face burned with embarrassment and shame, and Isabella beamed from behind.
Ethan said, not looking at anyone as he expressed, “I’m sorry, Anna, for not knowing you were the right person for me; now I realize. I hope this isn't coming late, but will you marry me? Be the mother of my unborn children?”
“What!” Anna's face lit up in excitement. “Ethan, you mean you want to make me your wife?” She asked as if this wasn't what she wanted.
This has been her biggest dream for decades! To be with Ethan! To her, she hadn't seen such a handsome guy as Ethan. He had everything a man should have.
“Yes.” Ethan nodded firmly, “I want to make you my wife. Please, will you—”
His words didn't come to an end when Anna rushed and peppered kisses on him, feeling beside herself with joy. “Yes, yes, I will!” She hugged him tightly.
Seeing this displayed in front of her, Sophia couldn't help but break down in tears. Everything was now over for her. Her child, including her marriage.
She knew she had no other option than to leave, and as a result of this, she grabbed a pen nearby and signed the papers with a trembling hand.
When done, she didn't look Ethan in the face as she said, “I hope you'll be happy with your decision today.” Turning swiftly to Isabella, she added, “I'll make sure to expose you and make you pay so dearly!”
Saying that, she turned and took off on her heels without looking back.
Anna yelled after her, sarcastically, “Come and take out your belongings. I can't put that trash of yours on my body.”
However, Sophia didn't even look back or reply to her words. Ethan also stood there speechless, watching her as she left without saying a word.
