Blade POV

As I saw him getting carried away by the guild leader, my heart hurt.

I heard what he said in the car.

"That means we're compatible." That's what he said.

Honestly, that made my heart flutter.

I haven't been able to find a compatible partner before. Most of them suffer tragic karma in some way.

"Sir, we need to run away test." One of the scientists informed me.

"Alright,let's go." I followed them.

Most of the testing they do is to find compatibility and ways to strengthen my powers.

I have a unique power, I'm the only one in our area who can copy anyone powers or even multiple powers at once.

I've heard of someone who used to work here and have sight as a guide, and that's really rare.

"Anything new?" I asked the tester.

"No. So far, all the people who might be compatible have gotten sick right away." He said.

So I walk off and enjoy another failure of the day.

It's been a couple of weeks, and I see Jet.

"Hey, how are you holding up?" I asked while grabbing his shoulder.

He flinched and ducked.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't know it was you. Sorry." He said.

He looked so drained and done.

"Do you want to take a walk by the lake here?" I asked him.

"I would have to i-inform the guild leader, I'm not s-supposed to be g-gone for too long." He stuttered that out. He didn't stutter before he came here. Did he?

"Ok, I'll ask him. Je won't get upset if his number 1 Esper asks." I smiled at him.

Before he could answer, I got up and went right to the guild leader.

"Hey, can I take Jet out to the lake. It's really nice out, and he looks like he needs it." I told him.

The guild leader just looks up at me then to Jet and back at me.

"Fine, but not for too long. I have a mission that you and I are going on." He told me

"Aye, Aye captain." I said while walking away.

I got to Jet, grabbed his hand, and ran towards the lake.

"Doesn't this feel great." I smiled.

For once, he smiled back. He walks towards the water and just stares in it.

"You know, I keep having this dream about finding my true Guide, but it all seems like a dream." I laughed out loud

" No,It's not a dream." He panickly rushed out.

"How would you know. Everyone I meet, no matter their levels. We just aren't compatible. They always end up hurt someway." I said that sorrowfully.

"What if I said that your Guide is closer than you think." He shyly said.

"Than hurray. That is what I would say." I told him.

He was in thought for a few seconds, then ran, and pulled me towards the water.

"Ok, please don't tell guild leader about this." He said.

"Ok, I won't." He looks scared.

He takes a deep breath and opens his eyes.

They are no longer the ocean blue color they were, but a jade green.

"If I'm near water, I can see my Esper." He informed me.

That shocked me.

"So you know your Esper?" I asked.

He shook his head yes.

"Wait, what about guild leader? Your compatibility rate is 90%. So that means there is someone that has a higher percentage?"I asked

"Please don't say anything to anyone. I think it is higher because I searched his room and found a picture. Do you know who this is?" He asked.

I looked at the picture and instantly knew.

"This was his old Guide. Wait, you scooped through his room?" I exclaimed.

"I know i did something wrong, but at my house, there's a person who looks like him." He said.

Ok, now I'm confused. "Do you think their the same person?" I asked

"The thing is, I don't even know who the person is in our own house. Our mom and dad would never tell us. I got suspicious when we would get extra money for sports or any extra activities. Especially when my parents were hiding us out." He added.

I looked at the picture more closely.

"His codename was Striker. He was a unique Guide. No one knew his real name except his Esper." I said.

I looked at him, and he was waiting for more, but I had nothing to say, really.

It wasn't my place, but at the same time, I want to help him.

"His Esper was -"

" We got to go." The guild leader cut me off.

"I got to go see ya." I told him.

I got up to the building and saw the guild leader giving Jet a uniform.

"Wait, he's going with us. He hasn't had proper training." I exclaimed.

"He's more than ready after spending time with me." He said as he grabbed Jet under the chin and forced him to kiss him.

I couldn't watch, so I looked away and grabbed the rest of my gear.

We all load up in the truck that's going to take us to the gate.

I can tell Jet is uncomfortable, but he doesn't move.

We get there, and it's already chaos.

"What happened?" The guild leader yelled.

"The gate it just suddenly just opened and let these creatures out." One Esper said.

"Shit." The guild leader cursed.

I just rolled my eyes and took a look at which Esper was holding out the longest with the battle.

I found one.

"Hmm, wind power, eh. Alright." I take a deep breath and focus on his power.

After the fighting was finally done and all the beasts were dead, we started coming up with a plan that would allow us to enter the gate without letting more out.

"Do we see what we need to do?" The guild leader asked.

"Yes, sir." Everyone replied.

We made it in without any worry, but something was still wrong.

"Alright, we've walked a long way. Everyone take care of yourselves and recuperate." He said.

I couldn't as I didn't have a guide, but I saw him pull Jet away so no one could see.

We start to move again, but a force makes it to where none of us can move.

"Whats going on?"

"I can't move."

" Where is everyone?"

Multiple people were starting to panic.

Someone grabbed my hand, I was about to shoot it, but realized it was Jet.

"Where the guild leader?" I asked him

He was just shivering and very scared.

"Everyone, does anyone have eyes on guild leader?" I asked.

It was silent, but everyone was just here.

"s**t, Jet, can you help me?" I asked him.

"With what, what can I do? " He frantically asked.

"I need guiding. Can you provide that?" I asked softly.

His eyes were scared, but he still gave me his hand.

He's shaking, "Ok, that's all I need. Thank you."

I tried releasing my hand.

"No, you're not guided all the way." He said

"Your shaking, Jet. That's enough for me." I told him.

It seems he didn't realize he was shaking.

"I'm sorry?" He lowered his head.

I petted his head.

"You did good." I smiled

He smiled back. "JET!!!!" We hear someone scream.

"We're over here." I yelled.

It is the guild leader.

"I'm glad I found you guys." He said.

I noticed something behind him.

"Guild leader!!" I yelled, but he didn't hear.

"Conrad!!!" That got his attention.

"WHAT!!"He yelled.

I pushed him out of the way, which ended up getting me stabbed.

I quickly blacked out, so I don't know what happened.

All I know is that Striker is here.
