Unruly rays of light skipped behind her eyelids. Báine groggily opened her eyes and noticed a tuff of orange in her peripherals. Báine tried to sit up but her limbs felt too heavy, she could only turn her head to get a better view. Her eyes focused and the tuffs were a mass of ginger curls. Kalis lay hunched over her bed, even breathes pass through her parted lips. “Kal”, the hoarse voice sounded unfamiliar to her own ears. The ginger jerked upright and Báine flinched in response. “You’re up”, Kalis blinked. Then a relieved smile threatened to spilt the red-head’s face. “She's up!” Kalis ran off “Aunty she's up!” Báine blinked at the door, Kalis was gone before she could utter a word.
