Chapter 4

1580 Words
Orion desperately wanted to snap back at her just as rudely as she had snapped at him but just then the doctor walked in with a notepad in his hand. He approached Adele with a concerned expression. "I'm Dr. Smith. I understand you've been in an accident. Before we proceed with the examination, I'll need some of your personal details. Can you please tell me your name?" he said. She rolled her eyes. "Oh, sure. I'm the world-famous stunt double for pedestrian bowling. My name is Cinderella. You know, like the princess, but with a much less magical day." she replied. Orion could sense the sarcasm in her tone. Dr. Smith tried his best to maintain a professional demeanor. "Alright, Cinderella. And your date of birth, please?" he said. Adele smirked. "Oh, I'm flattered you want to celebrate my birthday already. But I'd prefer to keep the spotlight on the man who hit me. He's the real star of today's show." "I am really sorry about the accident. My name is Orion, and I'll cooperate fully with whatever you need." Orion said, feeling sorry that the doctor had to deal with this kind of woman who apparently took nothing serious not even her own health. "Thank you, Orion. I appreciate your cooperation. Now, Cinderella, can you tell me if you have any existing medical conditions or allergies?" Adele feigned excitement. "Oh, do I get a medical history jigsaw puzzle to solve? Well, Doc, I'm allergic to traffic lights and have a rare condition called "zombie-walking-while-texting." she replied, trying to hold back her laughter. "Noted. And have you been experiencing any pain or discomfort since the accident?" he said, trying not to chuckle. "Oh, just the usual post-accident party inside my body. Pain, dizziness, and a dash of regret for not enrolling in car-dodging classes earlier." she said. "I see. It's essential to get you checked out thoroughly. We'll make sure you get the right treatment." he said while nodding understandingily. At that point, Orion felt like he was the one actually concerned about this woman's health as they were both taking it as a joke. How annoying could she become. "Alright, Doc. I'll drop the sarcasm for a moment. I just want to get this over with and make sure I'm alright. I have plans for another dramatic accident next month, you know?" she replied with a hint of sincerity. "I'm glad to see you're keeping your sense of humor despite the situation. Rest assured, we'll do our best to take care of you. Now, let's get you properly examined and make sure there are no serious injuries." he said, smiling. Throughout the rest of the examination, the doctor remained attentive and professional, while the Adele occasionally threw in humorous comments to lighten the mood. Orion is visibly remorseful and grateful that she seems to be okay. Despite the initial sarcasm, a somewhat lighthearted atmosphere helps ease the tension in the room. "Good news! I believe you can go home now. However, there are a few things we need to discuss. Due to the injury from the car accident, you'll need some assistance at home for certain activities until you fully recover." Dr. Smith said. "Wait, assistance? You mean, like a personal servant at my beck and call?" she asked. "Haha, not exactly a servant. More like a friend, family member, or a caregiver who can help you with tasks that might be a bit challenging for now. You know, just while you get back on your feet. Like maybe your husband here." he said turning to look at Orion. "Oh no no no, no please I am not her husband." Orion replied a bit faster than necessary. But he wanted to make sure that Dr. Smith understood that he had nothing to do with a woman like this. "He's not my husband Doc. It's quite disrespectful for you to consider that someone that looks like that could be my husband." she said, smiling. Orion was speechless. Was she insulting him? If he wanted her, he would have her at his knees. He thought. "Well, you will need someone by your side to help you." the doctor said, noticing the energy between the two of them. "Ah, got it. So, I'll have my very own butler for a while. I can already picture them fetching me tea and addressing me as "Madam." she replied. "Well, maybe not exactly like that, but you're on the right track. It's crucial to have someone around to lend a hand with things like preparing meals, doing household chores, or even just providing some company during your recovery." "Oh, come on, doc. You're just trying to make sure I have a live-in personal assistant to cater to my every whim. It's like living in a luxury resort." "Haha, you do have quite the imagination! But think of it more as having a helping hand to make your life a bit easier while you heal." "Why were these people wasting my time?" he thought, realizing that he was still in his work clothes as he was heading home from work when the accident happened and he had an early day tomorrow. All he was to do was go home and rest but now he had to sit there and listen to an annoying, rude woman who didn't take her health seriously. "Alright, alright, I can play along. I promise not to overwork my "live-in assistant" too much. But what if they get a bit bossy? I mean, they'll be at my service, right?" Adele replied. "Well, it's essential to communicate clearly with them about your preferences and needs. This person is there to assist, not take over your life. So, you can still maintain some level of control and independence." "Oh, I can already see the potential for some hilarious power struggles. I'll have to remind them who's the boss!" "Just make sure you do it kindly. Remember, they're there to support you. But on a more serious note, their primary goal is your well-being and recovery." "Of course, doc. I'll try not to be too much of a diva. But really, having someone to help me out does sound reassuring. I appreciate the suggestion." Adele said. "It's all about making sure you have a smooth and safe recovery. Having some assistance will likely speed up the healing process and prevent any additional complications." Dr. Smith replied. "You're right, as always. I'll find myself the best "personal assistant" I can, and we'll get through this together. Thanks for taking care of me, doc." "You're welcome! And remember, don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Now, let's get you ready to go home and start this exciting "personal assistant" chapter of your life." "Finally, they were done with all this." Orion thought while sighing. As the doctor walked out, Orion offered a hand to help Adele get up from the bed. By then the smile she had while playing back and forth with Dr. Smith had disappered, she now seemed hostile. When Orion held her hands, she refused and attempted to get up on her own. And failed immediately, she fell to the ground, you could hear her little scream as a result of the pain from the injury. "Are you okay?" he asked, trying to sound concerned, though his dislike for her was still evident in his tone. Adele grimaced, her pride wounded more than her scraped knee. "I'm fine," she snapped, not willing to accept any help from him. Orion sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Come on, let me help you up. It's not safe to stay on the ground like this." Reluctantly, Adele nodded, realizing she couldn't get up on her own. Orion extended his hand, and she hesitated before reaching out to take it. As he pulled her up, their gazes met. In that moment, they both felt a mix of awkwardness and vulnerability. "As our gazes, time seemed to slow down, and for a moment, the world faded away, leaving only her. She was like a breathtaking masterpiece brought to life, captivating my every sense. Her eyes, oh, those eyes, were like shimmering pools of warmth and mystery. They held a depth that seemed to reveal a thousand untold stories, drawing me in with an irresistible allure. With each glance, it was as if she could see right into my soul, and I couldn't help but feel vulnerable and exhilarated all at once. As our eyes continued to lock, a sense of connection formed between us, like an invisible thread drawing us closer together. It was as if we were engaged in an unspoken conversation, exchanging emotions and thoughts without uttering a single word. In that moment, everything around us blurred into the background, leaving only her in my sight. The noise of the room faded, and the world seemed to revolve around her. My heart pounded, my breath quickened, and I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness wash over me. She was a masterpiece, a symphony of beauty and charm that left me utterly captivated. In her presence, I felt both humbled and empowered, as if I were witness to something extraordinary. And as we continued to lock eyes, I couldn't help but hope that destiny might bring us together and allow me to unravel the mystery of the gorgeous woman who had effortlessly stolen my heart with just one glance." Orion thought.
