Chapter Twenty-Seven Throwing the car into drive, I tore out of the warehouse district and onto the roads beyond. The engine of the rental screamed in complaint as I urged it across the bridge and back to Manhattan. Mickey’s two goons had gone to great lengths to make sure I didn’t know where their boss lived. Unfortunately for them, I knew this city well—or maybe they just weren’t too bright. When they’d taken me to his place, the retro décor and the unusual layout of the building told me exactly where we were.
