I signed. The black ink settled onto the page—without hesitation, without looking back. The court finalized the process that day. The property transfer papers and separation notice were delivered by courier. I didn't wait for Rowan to get them. I grabbed my only suitcase and drove off. At 6 p.m., Rowan returned to the apartment. Later, Nolan told me that Rowan had stood in front of the empty closet.
