Chapter VIII The next day... All students and teachers are busy preparing for the sports competition. It's the Championship Game, and everyone is excited to see who will win in Basketball Boys, Basketball Girls, Volleyball Boys, Volleyball Girls, Track and Field, and other games. The championship games are happening simultaneously, so the audience is also split between the different events. . . . . . . . . .All the games have ended, and it's time for the awarding of the winners. In Basketball Boys, Grade 10 clinched the Gold, Grade 9 took the Silver, and Grade 7 secured the Bronze. For Basketball Girls, Grade 10 won the Gold, Grade 8 got the Silver, and Grade 9 received the Bronze. In Volleyball Boys, Grade 10 took the Gold, Grade 9 the Silver, and Grade 8 the Bronze. As for Volleyball Girls, it was none other than us, Grade 7, who won the Gold, with Grade 10 in Silver and Grade 9 in Bronze. . . . .Many were delighted because we were the youngest, yet we secured the gold. However, in the overall victory, the title of overall champion was awarded to Grade 10. . . .. . . Fean's POV .The sports fest finally concluded, leaving my body tired. I longed to go home and sleep early. We also have a week off from classes to give the students a chance to rest and recuperate. It's the perfect opportunity to recharge and unwind after the excitement of the sports fest. . . . . . . .I hung out on our balcony to see if RJ is at home.I failed to see him there, so I went out to the street. I haven't seen him there yet. But I saw his cousin Drake. "Hi Drake," I greeted him. "Oh Fean," he replied. "Aren't you with RJ?" I asked him. "No, he went out with Mikha," he replied. It hurts to hear that Mikha is with him. "Where are they going?" I asked him. "I don't know," he replied. "And RJ's personal life is his own, maybe he's on a date with Mikha," he added. "Oh, that hurts," I said suddenly. "You know, don't worry about my cousin, he's already grown up," he said. "Do you want to come along?" he asked. "Where?" I returned asked "To the basketball court, there's a tournament for online games there, with big stakes. Are you in?" he asked again. "Okay," I replied. I'm not really avoiding being with Drake because we've been neighbors for a long time and we used to play together since we were kids. It's just now that I'm not into playing outside anymore, maybe it's part of growing up." . . . . .*At the basket court . . . .As we approached the basketball court, the noise grew louder. There was cheering and shouting from both teams, and there were many people watching, and I think some were also betting. Drake asked me if I would also bet. I still had 50 bucks in my wallet, so I answered yes. Who knows, I might win. I indeed made the right choice, I won the 50 bucks and it became 200 bucks due to the consecutive wins of the team I bet on, while Drake lost because he kept switching the team he bet on. I tap his back and was about to give him 50 bucks but he said, "Hey, I don't like it when a girl gives money to a guy." "Why not? It's just sharing," I told him. "No, it's fine. You won anyway," he replied. "Then I'll just treat you to a burger and soda outside, okay?" I told him. "Okay, if you insist," he replied. We left the court and bought some food since it was getting late. . . . . . .After buying food, we headed straight home and ate on the way since it was getting late. We just laughed and reminisced about the funny memories we had when we were kids, along with our other playmates. Those were truly priceless moments filled with laughter and joy. . . . .As we arrived in front of our gate, I bid him farewell. "Bye, Drake. I really enjoyed it," I said to him. "I did too. Until next time, and thank you for the treat," he replied with a smile. "Next time, you treat me. Be a gentleman," I jokingly told him. "Sure, I'll treat you next time," he replied, still smiling. I just laughed and went inside our house. . . . . . . . . . .On the other side, RJ was peering out the window and he could clearly hear the laughter of the two teenagers conversing. . . . . . .Drake entered his house and he also saw RJ peering out the window. . . . . .RJ's POV . . "Oh dude, you're already here. How was your date with Mikha?" Drake asked him. "Yeah, and it wasn't a date. Mikha and I just went out for a stroll," he replied. "You're being too defensive," his cousin teased him. He just turned away and sat on the sofa. Drake followed suit. "You know, you and Mikha look good together," his cousin continued teasing him. "Thanks, but I'm too young to have a girlfriend, I'm only 13, are you crazy?" he retorted to his cousin. "You know dude, I'm so happy right now because I was with Fean earlier. You know I've had a crush on our neighbor for a long time, since we were in elementary. She's beautiful, perfect, smart, talented, and above all, kind," his cousin rambled on. This is also the reason why RJ didn't entertain Fean that much because her cousin has a crush on her before he came into their life . . . .*Flashback* .*On the first day he arrived at Drake's house, he immediately noticed Fean busy scrolling on her phone outside their house. So he asked his cousin, "Who is that girl?" "Oh, that's Fean. She's beautiful, right? Don't court her, dude. I've had a crush on her for a long time but I can't court her yet because we're still young," his cousin replied. . .*End of Flashback* . . ."Hey are you Ok?" his cousin asked while waving his hands on his face . ."Yeah why?" He asked . ."I'm asking what do you think of Mikha? Do you like her or Will you court her when we're of the right age?" his cousin asked him . . ."We'll get there" he replied and bid farewell to his cousin to go to his room
