New year, new me 🎉

JOY'S POV

Happy new year, happy new me,new goals and a new me",I say to myself as I walk through my bedroom door but before that I stand before the mirror and knit my dirty long blonde perfectly.I am my biggest cheerleader and I hype myself just before meeting my family.

It's on a bright sunny Sunday morning and as usual everyone is asleep,it's 7am in the morning apart from my mum .

"Good morning hunny how are you doing this fine morning",she cheerfully greets wearing nothing but a bright smile on her face,she lightens up my world.

"Good morning mama,what is up for breakfast today mum",I ask her in a soft voice as I pull the stool towards the counter

She reminds of my mum,her beautiful curved face and her soft voice,I really miss her

I really wish she was there on my eighteenth birthday,she really looked forward to it, unfortunately we lost her.

I'm 19 but my face,my face betrays me,my brother loves to make fun of me,he thinks I have a child like face I don't take this compliment on a light note,I mean I'm an adult,why does this keep taking me for a child,urgh,I'm so sick of everyone.

Good morning sunshine,I hope you didn't wake up this early to snick in the kitchen again,my dad says in a hoarse voice,his laughter can be felt from his voice and the he. keep on smiling at me .

"Daaad, could you stop this already,I thought we settled the case and you promised to never raise the issue again,I say in a lamenting voice

"it's a new year of course , hope you are ready for your projects this year,last night your professor sent me a notice on the deliberations that you are supposed to meet,he really believes in you and you are going to make a good lawyer."

Thanks dad,for the compliment,I will make you proud

"make daddy proud by observing hygiene too,you forgot to spread your bed, isn't that part of your curriculum ",Marie rudely interrupts our conversation

"why is this girl so mean?,does it benefit her in anyway "my inner wolf Ann laments.

Ignore she probably had a bad dream,I calmly respond to Ann.

Good morning Joy,it's yet another day of me embarrassing you and taking all your savings in a single match,are you sure you are ready for this,are you ready for what I'm about to do to you,"William repeats arrogantly

"I will destroy you today,"he says smiling at me Shipley

But before that before that, I'll teach some manners,I respond in a laughing voice,that's not how you scold your elderly,my voice gets darker by minute and he's good at reading my body language,he notices I'm starting to get angry and shuts the f**k up

He's a football star at the junior team in his school, in fact he was selected as the team captain heading his school team, despite his tiny body, he's a masterpiece.

He also outweighs me in chess,the reason he keeps on scolding me, either way I really love,he is my younger brother and I'd do anything for him.

I would trade my soul just for his cure,he is a colon cancer patient,it really affects him whenever he falls sick. I'm extremely optimistic that one day a cure will be found and he'll be able to carry around his activities without any fear.

I help mum serving breakfast,a hot plate of bacon and coffee, what a healthy way to kickstart the day and the year in general.

I'm really anticipating that this year is gonna be different,I hope I'll some new friends around the neighborhood and college at large

In my sophomore year back at Stavert law school, I hardly have friends,everybody keeps making fun of my baby-face,I hate but I press on regardless.

During my first year,I took it as body shaming and this made me a soical pariah. I'm exactly the opposite of my brother, he's a celebrity back in highschool

After breakfast,I head back to my straight to my room,takes a cold shower,I heard that cold showers makes one active during the day,it hasn't been scientifically proven though but whatever.

I put on my buggy jeans and a pink velvet top,I love pink,it's a good way of starting the day,I put on my stiletto shoes,this shoes,my mum bought me as a birthday gift,I was turning sixteen,I never grow because they still fit me

"you're perfectly beautiful",I hype myself as I dance on the mirror, applying my lip gloss and I think I'm ready for the. day .

Currently I'm an intern at a local law firm and I have a million projects and reports to write,.Not even the new year celebrations will stop me from working,I am that industrious

Atleast I have to make sure I help my dad in paying the bills.

I pick my backpack and slide in my ear pods waves family goodbye

Just before I walk out through the door, a strange looking man walks past me through the corridor to the doorway,he is looking elegant and well dressed,his hair is well aligned

And his dress code could speak volumes on his behalf,he from a noble family or whoever might have sent him.

He seems confident and conserved and the smile on his face reflects light on my direction,I can barely see.

I'm surprised by his visit,my dad only deals with smugglers and peasants not people of his caliber,I say to myself,but whatever I continue walking down the avenue hoping I catch a bus to work
