The banging got louder again.

My knuckles whitened as I hung on.
“One!”
He pushed us through the window. I screamed as I felt myself falling towards the ground. A burning sensation was running through my ankles, but Jordan was already by my side, lifting both of us to our feet. He had an arm wrapped around my waist, helping me move quickly to the shelter of the trees.
"Shift and run." His breath was hard in his chest.
"I can't," I panted. "It hurts too much."
