SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD WINONA.
SECOND YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL.
WINONA'S POV
If Jesus decided to take my life right now, no doubt, I would die fulfilled because I accomplished my long high school dream.
It might mean nothing to other people but for the girls at Royal High, getting the attention of the almighty Drake was a lifetime achievement.
I felt so special, because of all the girls are Royal High, I was the only girl that had ever gotten his attention. Quite the accomplishment don't you think?
A pretty smile graced my face as Blair and i walked to the canteen. Usually, I didn't care what my face looked like, but today I was the happiest person so I had to look at the part.
Of course I knew I was going to get dirty looks from all the other girls. Some of them were extremely jealous while others wanted to kill me.
My sister a.k.a The queen bee of Royal High and her wannabe friends were a part of the last group; The ones who wanted to kill me.
Despite being the most popular girl in school, the vice-president of the girl club, and a makeup influencer, nothing she did interested him.
All I just had to do was whisk my magic wand of knowledge, and boom, he winked at me.
I felt on top of the world, I felt on top of her. I might not be as privileged as her but I did have such an advantages.
I did better in school that she ever did, and I got more recognition than her. Although I suffered for all of that when I got home but honestly speaking, right now, I didn't have the time to be bothered about what I had to go through at home. I just wanted to bask in this moment of Glory.
We got out food and settled down to eat when i noticed that Blair was worried.
"What is it"?
She looked around before whispering. "I do not mean to bring you down from your seat of glory but can we face reality right now"?
I knew what she was talking about but I didn't want to play along, I didn't want to come down from that seat just yet "What do you mean by reality"?
"Winona.." She began "I am super happy that you got Drake's attention. I am happy that he looked at you, i am also very proud of you for surpassing the mark but can we agree that we now have more enemies than before".
She was right. Even as ordinary girls, we got bullied by my sister and her friends every single day. Nobody wanted to get on her bad side, so nobody said anything about it.
And now that I had the one thing she desperately wanted, it was just going to get worse.
I exhaled, and slumped back into my seat. I just lost my appetite but despite that, we needed to start finding a solution to our new problem.
"What should we do"? I asked her, knowing fully well that we didn't have a solution. We just had to face the consequences of my action.
As we stared at each other in silence, the huge double doors to the canteen opened, and the smell of strong cologne hit me.
"Here comes our high school nemesis". I announced loudly. Well, loudly enough for just Blair. I wouldn't dare draw attention to us after what happened today.
Her breaths turned erratic, and i immediately held her hand to calm her down. "Just act like nothing happened. Eat your meal and do not pay any attention to them, okay. Keep your eyes focused on me".
Despite the fact that I wasn't afraid of Layla, my step-sister, and her friends,, I couldn't throw under the table the fact that my best friend was terrified of them.
One time in first year of High school. My sister 'kindly' offered her a milkshake with peanut butter knowing fully well that Blair had bad allergic reaction to peanut butter.
Step-sister claimed she knew nothing about an allergic reaction but those were lies. I knew that she was just getting back at me.
She nodded at my instruction, and i patted her head. "Good girl".
But in reality, ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away. The problem still remains until a solution is found.
We put all our attention into eating our meal but that didn't stop them from still approaching our table.
But even as they stood in front of our table we still didn't pay any attention to them.
Something I knew my step-sister hated with all her heart was being ignored. She was a spoilt brat, and she loved getting attention.
She scoffed in disbelief. "So you're just going to act like I'm not here, sister"?
That was what she called me in school; 'Sister', but with enough venom to kill a nation.
I ignored her and continued with my meal. And without any warning, she slammed her palm on the table.
"All right.." She smiled devilishly "Keep ignoring me. We'll talk about this at home, just me and you..." She closed the distance between us "..and mother".
I paused at the mention of the word 'mother'. It brought memories i didn't want, so, i did what i have always done; Throw the thought out the window and focus on the present.
She stood back upright, and walked away with her minion.
As if she hadn't done enough, she began to murmur her usual anthem. The b***h.
Now that they were gone, i felt at ease. But I knew I was going to face the consequences of my action once i got home.
I looked around the canteen to make sure that not many people paid attention to what just happened, and thankfully they were focused on their phones, and food.
But I noticed someone staring daggers from behind me. As i turned around, my eyes met his.
His eyes held curiosity. They held things i could not explain, or maybe I was wrong and I was imagining things.
