Darkness and I was trapped in it, couldn't move my arms or legs or head or anything, couldn't open my eyes no matter how hard I tried, couldn't speak or scream or make any sound at all.
But I could hear.
I could hear everything and that was somehow worse than being completely unconscious because I knew what was happening around me but I couldn't do anything about it, couldn't respond or let anyone know I was aware and listening.
