Adrian POV I was still fighting and the darkness was cracking apart piece by piece like ice breaking under pressure, and I pushed harder than I'd ever pushed before because I could hear Elena's voice and that meant she was close. She sounded exhausted and like she was in pain but she was alive and talking to me, and I concentrated on every word she was saying trying to use her voice as a rope to pull myself toward consciousness.
