The cottagers used to spend their afternoons at Easton's Beach, closer to the center of town, but that changed when the mill workers from Fall River began going there as well. It was just a few years ago that my set turned to this beach instead, having no desire whatsoever to associate with people who brought their mid-day meal in buckets. They created the Sprouting Rock Beach Association, named for the large boulder that punctuated one end of the deep crescent-shaped shoreline. Another association that took a drop of blood to join.
