Chapter Four
Jenny's POV
We got down from the car, and a lot of paparazzi tried taking pictures of us, but the rate of bodyguards was alarmingly high. I couldn't believe my eyes. Who is this mysterious guy? Fine, I know he's wealthy, but what is his source of wealth?
He took my hand, and we both walked into the courtroom, majestically like a real couple.... I guess we are a real couple because I have been sold already; he owns me. Thinking about this brought Aunty Rachel to my mind. I hope she is doing just fine without me.... I promise I can never hate her. She wasn't the best, but she's better than those that brought me into this world.
We got to our seats straight away. He didn't let me greet his family, who were already seated waiting for us in the courtroom.
We signed the various papers that were given to us to legalize our marriage. Honestly, he was so gentle and was directing me on where and when to sign. He was also telling me to read most of the documents to see if I was okay with them. I found it creepy—like, why the hell is he being so nice to me? This is basically the first time I'm experiencing love, like real love.
Once we were done, the judge put his seal and then shook our hands. "You are now husband and wife," the judge said.
We exchange wedding rings and then took pictures with the judge and his family. And now the main reason why we are here has come: introducing me to his family.
I was good, not until now, even with his reassurance that his sister and mother will be nice to me. My legs suddenly became heavy and were shaking at the same time. I started feeling cold. Let's just say I'm nervous right now.
The aura coming from his family was so strong that any commoner would feel it. Even some wealthy people would feel it as well.
"Hi, I'm Mrs. Fiallo, Drey's mom," she said with a calm smile.
So his name is Drey. First hearing it, we just started knowing each other, so it's justifiable, I guess.
Suddenly, she opened her hands for a hug. I held back and looked at Drey. He gave me a nod before I went ahead to hug her back. After some seconds, we disengaged from the hug. His mom's cologne was just so nice;
"Hi, I'm Kate, and this is Abigail. We are Drey's younger sisters. I'm older than Abigail," Kate introduced.
"I'm Jenny, your brother's wife," I said and felt my cheeks heat up a little. With the look on their faces, I think they noticed it as well.
"Drey," Mrs. Fiallo called.
Both me, Drey, and his sisters' attention drew to her.
"Yes," he answered.
"Why don't you guys have lunch with us as a family? Let's know more about your bride and at least eat together. It's been long."
Drey looks at me and moves closer to my ear and whispers. I could feel his mom and siblings' eyes piercing at us, even when I wasn't looking at them.
"Are you going to be comfortable?" he asked.
I looked at him and slowly nodded my head.
"Okay," Drey said to his mom.
And I could see a bright smile on Mrs. Fiallo's face, as well as his sisters'.
"Then let's go," she announced.
She, Kate, and Abigail took their leave.
We were about to walk behind them when Mr. Fiallo walked towards us and gave me this deadly glance, then at the same time looked at Drey like he was about to eat him raw. Just like that, he walked away from us.
"Don't take it seriously; he's always like that," Drey said, and we both walked together outside.
The paparazzi were still outside, trying to take photos of us, but the guards were very protective.
We entered, with Drey opening the door for me. Then he entered and took a seat as well.
"If you know you aren't going to be comfortable, especially because of them, you can back down now, and I'm not going to be angry about it," he said.
"It's fine. I will be okay. Let's not let your dad's bad vibe make your mom sad," I said.
I bet I could see a smile on his face, but he quickly changed to his normal, usual face. Then it hit me: I haven't really seen him smile. And then my subconscious mind whispered, "How long have you been with him, that you're already saying you haven't seen him smile?"
...
We got to Drey's father's house, and it was beyond my imagination. The mansion was literally made of gold, with walls that shone like the brightest treasure. It was a 5-story building and was as big as a small community in a rural area. I stood there, my mouth refusing to shut, as I stared at the sheer scale of the mansion.
We stepped down from the car and walked towards the entrance, our footsteps echoing off the golden walls. The doors swung open, revealing its true beauty. The walls were lined with gold, and the floors were made of polished marble that seemed to glow from within. I could see my reflection staring back at me from the clean gold floor, as well as the walls, even the ceiling.
I looked at his eyes directly for the first time, searching if I could dig up any secret about his family's wealth, but his beautiful ocean-blue eyes took over, and then I found myself admiring the eyes instead.
What does this family do?? I was always not the curious type, but right now, curiosity is eating me up. Each step I was taking was making me feel more and more out of place.
We got to the table, and the maids served us. Mr. Fiallo kept stealing glances at me, and I started feeling uncomfortable and couldn't eat properly. Mr. Fiallo's eyes narrowed, and his voice was deep with pain. "So, this is the woman you've chosen to marry." Jenny's hands trembled as she tried to smile, while Drey's jaw clenched in anger.
"Dad, please stop," Drey said, staring at his dad like he was going to strangle him.
Mr. Fiallo just smirked and then continued eating.
I felt his hand on mine. Was he trying to make me feel good? If yes, then it's working perfectly fine.
...
After we were done with lunch, Mr. Fiallo stood up and said just five words with a command in his voice:
"MEET ME IN MY ROOM."
They both left the dining room, and I took an excuse to use the restroom, which Mrs. Fiallo called one of the maids to direct me to.
I got back, and luckily, his mom and siblings gave me the space I wanted.
Drey's POV
I walked behind my dad as we both walked into his study.
"Dad, if it's because of my marriage, I'm married now, and nothing can be done."
"Yes, something can still be done. Since she's a nobody, she can still leave the scene."
"Don't you dare!" I yelled to my father.
"Fine, you're making your own money, but never forget the man who made you who you are," Dad yelled and turned his back on me.
"I know it's you, Dad, but I don't like the lady you brought. Did you know how many men Mr. Tan's daughter usually has affairs with?" I said with a high tone and hit my hand on his desk.
"If you weren't okay, there are other ladies from a high-class family," he said.
"I know, you brought alot but I wanted to make this first one decision concerning my life."
"You can keep doing this nonsense marriage, but I'm coming for your bride, so better keep her protected."
Don't forget what the Fiallo's can do.
"If anything—I mean anything—happens to my wife," I said, glancing at him directly, "I will forget you are ever my father. She's mine. Jenny is mine." I said and walked out of his study room in anger.
