ADIRA Today makes it a year of graduating from college and I have nothing to show forth. I have always dreamt of living a luxurious lifestyle like in the novels i read, but nothing seems to work out for me. So I made a decision to go stay with my aunt; my mother’s junior sister who runs a fairly big restaurant. My parents didn’t take lightly to the news but I managed to convince them. Aunt Mirai is a very nice woman from what I have heard and seen, so she is the best option to live with. Here I am now with my luggage standing at her porch. I knocked once. No response. And I knocked again. Still no response. I breathed out of my mouth and decided to call her. She picked on the first ring. “Hello darling”, she answered with a soft voice. But before I could answer, the door opened to the most handsome guy with striking green eyes. My mind started spiraling. Is this aunt Mirai’s son? How is he so perfect? I am practically going to start living with the hottest guy I have ever laid eyes on. I didn’t know I had been staring for long. “What the f**k are you standing there like a dumbstruck fool and staring for?” Ouuu, I also forgot to add that the hottest ones are always the rudest. I rake my eyes through him with a disgusted look. “I was just wondering why I had to live with such an unfavorable jerk like you”, I retorted back. “You could turn back and forget that you ever came here”, he said with a bored look. Okay, this guy really needs a good s***k. “Would you let me in or keep on sulking like a spoilt daddy’s princess”, I shoved past him and went into the house still struggling with my heavy suitcase. “b***h”, I heard him curse under his breath but before I could say anything, he had began climbing the stairs and had fixed a pod in his ears. He could have waited for me to unleash my hulk. “Coward”, I huffed and sat on of the chairs in the dining room. So much for crushing on someone on your first meeting. I had been sitting for about an hour and I got bored out of my mind. I decided to call my mum, I wonder what they would be doing now. She picked on the first ring. “Dira!!!”, my mum has always been the dramatic type. “Mama, how are you doing?” “Your dad is still complaining on why I allowed you leave, he still hasn’t accepted the fact that you are no longer with us”. “But are you okay with my absence mom?” “Like as if you are going to come back without a fight”. I could practically see her rolling her eyes. “I’m no more a kid mom”, I said with an eye roll. “You are still a kid to me and your whining dad okay, don’t forget that”. “I will mom”, I said with a small voice. “And also don’t forget that I love you”. “I love you too baby, make sure to take good care of yourself, bye!!”. She said and hung up. It took me seconds before I removed the phone from my ear. I miss her so much already. I felt tears stinging the side of my eyes and I immediately shook it off. Breathe in. Breath out. I am here to start a new life and I am going to make the best out of it. Few minutes later, I heard the tyres on the driveway. I saw aunt Mirai coming out of a dark blue Toyota Yaris. I quickly adjusted my clothes and went to welcome her. “Aunt Mirai”, I smiled and went ahead to hug her. Aunt Mirai isn’t as old as I expected, she looked like she is in her early thirties. With a perfectly shaped brow, pointed nose, blond hair and sharp accessing eyes which made her look strict and kind at the same time. She hugged me back with equal affection. She brought her hands to my face and started checking for what I assumed was injuries. “Dira you have changed a lot, look at you”, she smiled widely at me while looking at me with a pout. “Come on, let’s go in”, she practically dragged me into the house. “I assume you have met Tristan”, she asked. So that’s the name of the handsome jerk. “Your son?”, I blurted before I could even process my words. Surprisingly she began laughing Like really laughed. “Don’t tell me he was also rude to you?” She asked with an amused smile. I immediately felt comfortable with her. “I felt like punching him in the face”, I frown while recalling our previous meeting. “It’s understandable darling, Tristan had always found making friends a hassle, so he sticks to himself”. Yeah, yeah, I’m definitely still going to punch him in the face. “Have you eaten?” Aunt Mirai asked. I was about to say yes, but my stomach decided at that very moment to make a very loud embarrassing sound. I pursed my lips and smile sheepishly, I could feel my ears going red. She looked at me with a raised eyebrow and a small smile. “You were not going to decline, were you?”. Gesturing with her hands, “Take your luggage to the second room by the left and meet me in the car”. I quickly went upstairs in anticipation. I opened the door to the room and sighed in satisfaction. This is exactly what I wanted. I quickly kept my luggage at a corner and went back downstairs to Aunt Mirai’s car. The inside smelled like luxury. “Let’s get you to the best food restaurant in town”, she said and started the car. I let myself relax and close my eyes. My stay here is beginning to feel like the paradise i had always imagined.
