Phoenix POV -
The blood moon is finally over and I'm back to my normal self again. But I bit her... She wasn't supposed to know about me and now she might die because of me. What have I done? I'm such a f*****g idiot.No wolf can control themselves on a blood moon, no matter how strong they are. I should have chained myself up. Why didn't I chain myself up?!
I'm carrying her cradle style in my arms, running through the woods as fast as I can to get back to my village and get our doctor to check her over and hopefully save her. I can't let her die.
Everyone in my village is in bed resting after last night's turn. After a blood moon, we all feel drained and weak and need a chance to recouperate. I raced into the doctor's home. "Mathew! Mathew! Help please!", The doctor, Mathew, came running down the stairs. "Phoenix, what have you done? You've bitten a human!".
"Doc, I know this is going to sound weird, but she's the one... She's my mate. Please you have to save her!", "I'll do what I can, boss, but you know the survival rates for humans being bitten by werewolves". By that he means 0%. No-one in this world has ever survived a werewolf bite, ever. But she has to. Doc forces me to wait outside, so that's what I do. Pacing outside like a lunatic, guilt-ridden.
Crystal's POV -
Is this death? All I feel is pain. As though every bone in my body is being crushed. All I see is darkness, just black all around me. Maybe in death I'll be happier. I don't know. Why can't I stop thinking about the mysterious man who turned into a wolf right in front of me? I should be scared, confused and quite frankly pissed. But for some strange reason.. I feel like I was meant to meet him. Like I'm bonded to him, which is crazy because the man attacked me and quite possibly killed me. What the hell is wrong with me? Wake up Crystal!! This is not your time!!
Mathew's POV -
How can our almighty Alpha break the rules like this? His father will be furious when he finds out... And now he's implicating me! Maybe I should just get rid of her. No... What am I thinking? I can't do that. Phoenix will banish me from the pack.
I can see why he likes her.. She is strikingly beautiful. But a human; his mate.. I think not. The man has clearly lost his mind. Her bite wound is so deep, her veins are turning a silver-like color... I've never seen this happen before in all of my twenty-six years being a doctor. I lean down closer to her and open my senses.. Her heart is still beating and rather fast too. What is going on? Suddenly, I hear what sounds like blood rushing through her body. She jolts up and screams, pushing me backwards with a force I have never felt before, knocking me off of my feet and straight onto my back. "Get AWAY from me!".
Phoenix rushes into the room, clearly hearing the altercation. His face is pale with shock, as I'm sure mine is too.
Phoenix POV -
Seeing her sitting on the table alive has given me such a sense of relief. But knowing that I hurt her.. I can’t get passed that. “Crystal, please calm down. Let us help you”. My heart is pounding watching her expression change from scared to confused, to angry.
“You attacked me, you’re a monster!”, she shouts at me as she slowly gets off the table and walks backwards away from us. “Doc, will you give us the room for a moment?”. Mathew nods his head at me and leaves the room. I put my hands up and slowly walk towards Crystal as she’s still walking backwards until she hits the wall.
“I didn’t mean to attack you, I told you to leave but you didn’t listen to me. Why?” Her face drops into a worrisome look. “I thought you were hurt, you were screaming. I just wanted to help, if I had known you would attack me in return, I’d have been long gone”. “Crystal I’m so sorry..”
Crystal’s POV -
The nerve of this man, stalking me, attacking me and now all he can say is sorry?
“Who are you? How do you know my name, where the hell am I and what the f**k is going on?!” I watch him take another step towards me and take in a deep breath as though he’s getting ready to spill all his secrets. But then out of nowhere, I get a splitting pain running through every bone in my body causing me to scream out in pain and crash to the floor.
“Crystal! What’s going on, are you okay?!” I’m in too much pain and shock to answer him, my body slumps to the ground and I stretch out onto my back. “W-what did you d-do to me?”
I can see all the emotion running through him, scared, worried, confused and even sad. Does he actually care? Why do I feel sort of safe with him after what he did to me?
My eyes start to close and everything goes black.
Phoenix POV -
“Mathew get back in here!”, I call for the doctor once again, in hopes he can help her and tell me what the hell is going on. Mathew enters the room and gestures for me to put her back onto the table.
“Phoenix, I’m not sure how to say this but your bite went so deep into her leg, your toxins released into her bloodstream. Now usually when that happens to a human.. they die”.
He’s right, no human ever survives a bite from a werewolf. No human in history has ever been turned. Werewolves are born with the gene.
“Here’s the thing, when I was alone with her, I could hear her heart and the blood going through her. She’s not dying, she’s changing. Slowly”.
I let out a laugh, unable to believe what he’s just said to me. There’s no way he’s right.
“Doc, come on, you and I both know what happens when a human gets bitten. There’s no possible way she could be changing, she’s human..”
