I jolt awake screaming.
A hand pushes me back on the bed, and holds me down. Kate’s face looms into view above me as I take large gulps of breath, trying to calm my distraught mind and get enough oxygen into my system. “Stay still. It was just a bad dream.” She says, sounding a little annoyed. Her hands keep me down as my muscles relax.
Sayah’s face joins hers above me. “Are you okay Fiona?” She asks with more compassion than Kate; her eyebrows knitted, forehead creased. “You gave us quite a fright, fainting like that.”
I blink at their faces, then at the ceiling. I’m in my room. It brings back memories of eating the poisoned cupcake, but the familiarity of the space helps me calm down more. My heart still hammers against my ribcage; working overtime due to the crossover of a nightmare
