“I don’t know what I was thinking when I left.” I tear my eyes away from the stone that ripples the water in the lake and set my gaze on Natalia instead. “Why do you say that?” I ask, taking another pebble and throwing it in the lake. The place is quiet save for the chirping of birds and the sound of the pebbles as they hit the water. We weren’t that deep into the woods, but the trees were converged and thickly clustered together; enough to make you feel like you’re cooped up in another entire universe.
