[Matthias]
I opened the door to my room as I dragged myself to the bed. f**k, I used all my nerves and muscles just doing that Physics project with Earl. I’m so f*****g tired and all I wanted to was to lie on my bed and sleep for the rest of my life.
I took a glance at the clock before dropping down on the bed. 9:58 p.m.
“I wonder if he’s home already,” I muttered to myself after remembering a certain someone. Realizing my frustration, I suddenly got up while tousling my already messy hair.
God damn it. What’s happening to me? I couldn’t believe I’m worried about that little s**t. Damn, how couldn’t I? He’s so helpless by himself that I couldn’t even take my eyes off of him. He kept on letting people take advantage of him and he’s fine with that. Honestly, who the hell in their right mind would do something like that for others?
I sighed. Okay fine, I admit it. I’m one of those people who took advantage of him. But what could I do? It’s just so fun to tease him. That face he makes whenever he’s pressured – ah goddamn it. I just wanted to eat him, devour him and keep him all to myself.
I might seem like a d**k around him but for a guy like that, I would risk everything just to protect him.
Other people might see him as pathetic, loser and a nerd for me he’s the most wonderful person in the world. Everything about him was perfect.
I heaved another sigh before standing up to recompose myself. I have to stop thinking about him. It’s not making my erection happy.
I took my phone out when I felt it vibrating inside my pocket. I read the message and grunted in annoyance. Another damn meeting.
I covered my head with the pillow to forget what I just read but someone just had to knock on the door to disturb my already tranquil night.
“What?” I angrily snapped as I threw the pillow away from me.
The door opened and I rolled my eyes when I saw that it was Harry who came in. He was wearing a wicked grin and I instantly knew that he’s up to no good.
“What do you want?” I asked in annoyance.
He kicked the door close and neared me. I watched him take his blazer off, making me see the leather gun holster wrapped around his torso.
“How many times do I have to tell you? No guns allowed in my room, asshole,” I warned and he just laughed at me.
“Come on, you know that these guys here are a part of my body,” Harry casually.
I pushed myself to stand up. “What’d you want anyway?”
“You know what it is today. There’s a meeting and you have to attend,” he said as he sat on my bed and crossed his legs.
I rolled my eyes. “Yeah you don’t have to remind me that, I already read the message.”
I walked towards a bookshelf and pulled out a book. The shelves automatically slid out of the wall, revealing a rectangular room where I put all my weapons away. I heard Harry behind me, whistling at the sight of the hidden room. I went inside and the smell of gunpowder made my nose trickle in disgust.
Harry scampered inside as well, throwing himself on the cream-colored sofa placed in the middle of the room.
“I’ll never get used to this room,” he commented in awe.
I rolled my eyes at him before getting the remote control that was sitting on the end table near the sofa.
“Get used to it,” I threatened and he just shrugged his shoulders.
He watched me push one of the buttons on the remote and the doors of the steel cabinet on the right side of the room automatically opened.
I walked towards it and stared at the two guns neatly displayed behind a glass box. I grabbed my favorite pistols and glanced back at Harry.
“So who’s the target?”
“You’re late,” Damascus said as soon as I entered the conference room.
I glared at him after I heard the door closed behind me.
“Whatever.”
Once I stepped inside, I already felt the tension around the air. There were eight men sitting around the oval-shaped conference table. They were all wearing black suits and ties and each and every one of them have a guard standing behind their chairs.
I ignored their serious faces and just walked around to where I usually sit: next to Damascus. One of the guards pulled a chair for me. I sat down, laid my back against the chair and smugly looked around the people who were still giving me dangerous stares. I only rolled my eyes at them, not even bothering to listen to their nonsense chatters.
“It’s been a while since a thing like this happened to us.” Damascus’ voice echoed through the room and everyone started to listen closely to him.
Well, except me of course.
“Mr. Han, one of our associates – ” I snorted at his emphasis of the word ‘associate’ but Damascus only ignored me and continued speaking. ” – betrayed us and decided to expose some of the important secrets we have.”
I rolled my eyes again for the nth time. Seriously, why would he do that? It’s clear what the rules were. Betray the Mafia and you die.
Simple as that.
“What should we do?” one of the men asked and I could see his eyes gleaming with malice.
Damascus grabbed the glass of wine and looked at the man who asked him. “There’s only one thing for us to do.” He tightly gripped the glass until it finally broke into pieces. The wine dripped down in his hand, soiling the neat carpet below us. “We kill him.”
I made a face. Does he really have to break the glass and act so damn proud about it?
“Matthias,” he finally called and I mentally cringed.
I turned my head to look at him. “What?” I asked. My voice sounded bored and it made Damascus glare at me. “What?” I repeated in irritation and he only gave me a tired sigh.
“I’m entrusting you with this job,” he said.
I stared at him for a second. “I have classes tomorrow.” I reasoned and I heard the others grumble in complaint. I narrowed my eyes on them and they immediately shut up.
Damascus wiped his hands with the cloth given to him by one of the servants. His eyes were still looking at me and I waited for his retort.
“Fine. I’ll give you three days to settle this,” he said while standing up.
The others stood up as well but I remained sitting down.
“I want to know where Han is. Report to me as soon as possible,” Damascus announced. His voice was filled with authority that it made everyone nod and chorused a loud ‘yes’ as an answer before bowing and leaving the room.
With everyone gone, I finally raised my feet on the table to relax.
“Matthias, where have you been? Your father is worried about you.” His voice softened as he sat back on the chair while looking at me.
I snorted in sarcasm. “Him? Worried? Not in a million years.”
Damascus glared at my answer but I didn’t care.
“I’m not here to be jerked around Matthias. I asked you a question and you will answer,” he growled.
I cursed in exasperation while throwing my arms up in the air. “f**k! Do you really have to ask where I’ve been every time I went out? I went to my classmate’s house to do a project!”
Damascus pursed his lips as if he doubted what I just said. I just shook my head in defeat, knowing that talking to him won’t do me any good. Not even saying goodbye, I pushed my chair away to get out of this damn place.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Damascus clenched his fists in anger. “We’re not finished yet.”
He finally stood up but I continued walking away from him. I reached the door and was about to open it but stopped when Damascus screamed my name.
“Matthias Damian Blaise!”
I gripped the doorknob and gritted my teeth, annoyed at how pushy this old man was.
“I’m going to kill him! I got that!!!”
I slammed my fists on the wall to release my anger. “God damn it!!!”
The cold water of the shower wasn’t really helping me to calm down. I’m so pissed off at Damascus that I wanted to throw a heavy punch on his face to make me satisfy my anger.
I heard Harry’s voice from outside and it made me angrier. “Hey man! You alright there?!”
“f**k, just leave me alone!!” I barked in reply.
“Geez, no need to be grumpy! I’ll be downstairs if you need me.”
I waited for a while until I heard the door closed. I turned off the shower and grabbed the towel on the rack to wrap it around my waist, not even bothering to dry my hair.
Why did I even go there? They could just give me the order through the phone or let someone deliver the message to me. Old men, they really don’t understand technology.
I stepped out of the bathroom, threw the towel on the floor and walked to the closet to put something on. After putting on my boxers, I turned off the lights and walked near the windows, watching the men in the family guard the perimeter.
I shook my head and rubbed the bridge of my nose to ease the tension building up inside me.
Damn, I really want to see him.
[Earl]
“Okay, that’s it for today,” Mr. Carlson announced as he closed the book that he was holding. “Oh, and don’t forget we have a quiz tomorrow.”
The students groaned and it made Mr. Carlson leave the room with a smirk. I stood up from my chair and rubbed my tired eyes behind my glasses. I really need to go to the optometrist to fix my eyeglasses.
“Hey dumbass.”
I looked at the owner of the voice and found Jasper Collins standing beside me with his usual smug face.
I inwardly cowered at the sight of him. “What is it?”
“Do you really have to ask that?” He poked my forehead in intimidation before throwing me his report papers. “I need it tomorrow so make sure you finish it.”
The guys behind him snickered in delight, probably amused at how easy for Jasper to dominate me.
I dumbly stared at the paper in my hands. “But - ”
Jasper stepped forward until our faces were inches apart. His hard glare made me flinch. Literally.
“You saying something?” He raised his eyebrows at me, taunting me even more.
I shook my head. “N-no. Nothing. Consider it done.” I recited and he gave me a boyish grin.
“Good.”
I watched them leave the room and I finally heaved a sigh.
“I’m so tired.”
I closed the door of my locker. When I remembered that I still have reports to finish, I sighed again. I don’t really want to do Jasper’s paper but I don’t have any other choice.
“Hey.”
I gasped and turned around to see Edward leaning against the wall, both his hands tucked inside his pockets.
“Yes?” I asked while picking up my bag and walking towards my brother.
“Tell him I’m not gonna eat dinner tonight,” he said, giving me his bag before walking away.
“Why? Where are you going?” I asked as I ran to follow him.
“None of your business,” he shortly answered.
I stopped on my tracks as he continued to walk away, completely leaving the campus.
“I’m home,” I whispered even though I’m aware that no one’s inside the house.
I locked the door and head straight to the kitchen to get a drink. After refreshing myself, I went to my bedroom to start doing Jasper’s homework.
I changed my clothes, feeling all tired and sore.
I sat in front of my desk, taking out Jasper’s homework only to see that it was History. Oh how lucky of me, it’s the subject I hated the most.
Do I really have to write an eight thousand-word essay about the Civil War?
I rubbed my temples in frustration. All I wanna do was to get some sleep and forget about the harsh world for only one night.
Could I do that?
I tapped the end of my pen on the table. It’s not my responsibility to do things like this, right? Who gave them the right to use me anyway? I don’t owe anyone anything.
I nodded at my new resolve.
I’m tired of doing things for others.
So tired.
After classes, I immediately went to the locker room to change to my gym uniform.
I always hated gym class because I hate sports. Yeah, I admit I’m clumsy and weak.
I changed into my gym uniform and headed out of the room only to be stopped by none other than Jasper and his friends.
Great.
“Yes?” I asked in a small voice, trying hard to fight the inside me while I look directly into Jasper’s eyes.
“Where’s my essay?” he impatiently asked. “I need it for my next class.”
My voice was shaking and weak. “I...don’t have it.”
I saw the flicker of hatred on those eyes that made me cringe.
“Excuse me?”
Clenching my fists, I straightened up. “I said I don’t have it,” I repeated, my voice steady and calm.
Jasper narrowed his eyes. “You don’t have it? Did I hear it correctly?”
“Yes,” I answered while nodding. “Please excuse me.”
I pushed past through him to walk towards the gym to get to my class but was stopped when a hand caught my shoulders. I was spun around and before I knew it, I felt a sharp pain on the side of my face.
“You dumb s**t!!!”
“Ouch,” I hissed in pain when the nurse put the bandage around my stomach.
“Bear with it,” she said as she tied it safely.
She stood up from the bed and walked out of the room. Few seconds passed and she came back with a basin and a towel. She put it on the table and sat beside me again.
My bruised arm twitched when she held it and she mumbled a sorry before wiping it with the damp towel. I sighed in relief and the nurse smiled at me.
“Feeling better now?” she asked and I shyly nodded.
“Sorry for the trouble Ms. Bitterman.”
She snorted. “Geez, just call me Leila. No need to be all polite with me.”
Leila grabbed my other bruised arm and started cleaning it with the same towel.
I could feel my face heating up from embarrassment.
“S-sorry, Leila.”
Leila smiled. “It’s the second time you got sent to the clinic.”
“Yeah. I’m sorry about that,” I apologized again.
“At least someone needs my help,” she joked while grinning at me.
I gave her a timid smile.
“There, finished,” Leila announced with a grin.
Before standing up, she dipped the bloody towel in the basin.
“Now. Here comes the bad part.” She pulled out the antiseptic bottle in one of the cabinets and I paled when I saw it. “Don’t worry. It’ll sting like a b***h at first.”
Leila neared me and started to put antiseptic on my wounds.
“Ow...” I bit my lips when I felt the sting every time she wiped it with the cotton.
“Now we’re good.” Leila threw the dirty cottons in the trash bin. She walked back to the cabinet and pulled out a clean shirt. “Here.”
“Thanks for everything.” I said as soon as I finished changing my clothes.
I stood up and she only glared at me. “And where do you think you’re going?” she asked in a stern voice.
I nervously gulped. “Err. I’m going back to class,” I answered.
Leila angrily furrowed her brows at me. “Are you insane? You just took a beating and you’re going back to class looking like that? God you look like you’ve been mugged,” she said as she pushed me towards the bed to make me lie down.
“But - !” I tried to get up but she pushed me back again.
“I’m sorry but I can’t let you go back to class. Stay there and rest. I’ll call your brother to pick you up.”
My eyes widened in fear at what she said. If Edward sees me like this, he’ll definitely add more wounds to my body. I quickly reached for Leila’s wrist to stop her from leaving the room.
“Wait!”
“What is it?” she asked, brows raised in confusion.
I tightened my hold on her. “Please, please don’t call my brother,” I begged but she only gave me a puzzled look.
“Why not? He’s your brother. He needs to know,” Leila retorted but I continued to shake my head.
“No. No. Please don’t. Anything but that.” I looked straight into her eyes to let her see that I’m serious. “Please, don’t tell my brother, Leila.”
She paused for a second before clearing her throat. “Fine.” I smiled at her. Thank goodness. “But promise me not to get up on that bed until I say so, okay?”
I meekly nodded. “I promise.”
“Good. Now, get some rest.”
I smiled at her and nodded again. “Thank you.”
Leila finally walked away out of the room and I heaved a sigh of relief. I was woken up from my thoughts after feeling that familiar sting on my arm. I caressed it to ease the pain.
Well, I wasn’t expecting they’ll beat the crap out of me but look at the bright side, at least I don’t have to go to my gym class anymore.
The thought made me smile.
[Matthias]
Gym class finished and still no Earl appeared.
Where the hell is that s**t anyway?
“Hey Matthias.” I turned around to look at Justin. I fought the urge to roll my eyes at him. Damn I hate this asshole. “Sup bro?” he casually asked as if he’s my friend.
“What’d you want?” I asked and he just grinned at me.
“Have you heard the news yet?” he asked. Not waiting for my reply, he smirked at me and started patting my shoulder. “That dipshit Earl Harrison, got beaten by Jasper and his gang.”
The moment he said that, I felt my blood boiled in anger.
“Damn. I wish I was there to see him beat that puny s**t,” he continued but I couldn’t hear what he was saying anymore.
I slowly walked out of the gym and the chattering of the people around me slowly dissolved until I couldn’t hear anything. I pushed a couple of people away and when they saw how dangerous my eyes were, they immediately backed away. My sight was becoming weary and my anger was slowly rising up to the point where I’m clenching my fists so hard it’s not going to be a surprise if it bleeds.
No, wait Matthias, just wait. I have to calm down. If I let my rage take over, I don’t know what I could do. Hell, I could even kill people right here, right now and I wouldn’t be worried about the consequences it’ll make.
I could feel my hands shaking in anger.
I just wanted to kill Jasper.
I wanted to kill him.
I wanted to kill him.
I wanted to kill him.
I wanted to kill him.
I wanted to kill him.
I looked at my wristwatch. Four in the afternoon. The classroom door finally opened and a group of people went out, talking as loud as they could as if they owned the place.
The corner of my eyes twitched when I saw that f*****g Jasper went out of the room. His arm was wrapped around some b***h I didn’t even care to know who.
I smirked at his smug looking face. You’ll taste hell right here, right now.
“Hey,” I called out and they all looked at me. Some of the girls squealed when they saw me but I ignored them.
“Matthias f*****g Blaise,” Jasper acknowledged while walking towards me, a smirk pasted on that stupid face of his. I resisted the urge to slice it into pieces.
“Do you need something, man?” He casually asked as if we’re friends. Like we’re actually buddies.
I took another drag of cigarette before blowing the smoke directly to his face. “I heard what you did to Harrison.”
Jasper stared at me and laughed out loud like I just tossed him a f*****g joke. Before he could even open his mouth to say whatever he was going to say, I threw a fast jab that connected straight on his nose. I heard it crack against my fist and it made me smirk in content.
Everyone gasped in shock and fear.
“Aaaaaaarrrghhh!!!”
He stumbled down on the floor, wincing in pain and clutching his now broken and bloody nose. His friends immediately surrounded him, asking him if he’s alright.
“WHAT THE f**k’S WRONG WITH YOU?!!”
I glared at him and he flinched when Jasper saw my murderous look. He backed away when I neared him.
“Come on, that didn’t even hurt,” I said in mockery.
I looked at the people surrounding him, narrowing my eyes that made them step back.
“Scram.”
One word and they immediately ran off, leaving Jasper and I to deal with each other.
“You f*****g bastard!! The hell’s your problem?!” he screamed.
The sight of him holding his bloody nose sent shivers down my spine. It always felt good to make people like this bleed in the most painful way.
“My problem?” I pulled his hair up to make him stand. When he was already on his feet, I slammed him hard on the wall and he coughed at the impact. “Stop running around like you’re the boss of this school. You ain’t one, shithead.”
“You ain’t the boss here either!” he spat in pure hatred but I just gave him a teasing look.
“Take my advice and stop acting like a jerk.” I gently patted his head and he growled at me.
I knew he wanted to fight back but the pain on his face stopped him from doing anything to me. I leaned closer to him and I felt his whole body tensed. I wrapped my hand around his neck, slowly gripping it until I hear him gasp.
“Believe me, you wouldn’t want me to be your enemy, Jasper,” I sweetly whispered his name and he shivered at the threat.
Sweat rolled down his forehead. “W-what a-a-are you...?”
Jasper tried to take my arm away from him but it was futile. I tightened my hold on him and soon, he was gasping for air.
“If you touch Earl one more time I’ll f*****g kill you. I’ll tear you apart, limb by limb, until nothing’s left.” I glared at him and he paled when he saw that I was capable of doing what I just said.
I finally released him and he dropped down on floor, panting and gasping for air.
I locked the door of my car and heaved a sigh. Damn that felt so good.
I leaned on the seat and turned the radio on. While listening to the news, someone suddenly knocked on the window. I unlocked it after seeing that it was Harry.
“Hey!”
He entered my car and closed the door. He excitedly turned to me and I made a face when he gave me a big grin.
“I heard you knock the s**t out of Jasper,” he said.
I rolled my eyes at him. “God, the whole school knows already.”
When Harry knew something, it means everyone in the whole campus already knew it as well. Damn bastard, couldn’t even shut his mouth even for a minute.
“So, did the jerk piss you off?” he asked and I shook my head to answer.
I’m not in the mood to explain what my reasons were for threatening the i***t.
Harry blinked at me. He threw his bag on the seat behind and faced me again.
“Come on. You only beat the s**t out of someone when you’re bloody pissed.”
“I’m always pissed,” I said before starting the engine and driving out of the parking lot.
“But man, I heard Jasper’s one of the members of the Black Lake gang,” he informed in a low voice.
I scoffed. “So? Does that concern me at all?”
My eyes were fixated on the road while Harry continued to rant.
“In a way, yes,” he replied. “They might take revenge for what you did to one of their members.”
“I’m so scared,” I sarcastically said with a smirk and Harry only laughed.
“So tell me honestly dude, what did he do to make you knock him like that, ha?” Harry nudged my shoulder but I angrily hissed at him.
“I’m driving dickface. Do you wanna die?! I’ll give you a ticket to hell.”
I could see Harry pouting and I sighed. I hate it when use that face on me.
Seconds passed and I finally surrendered. “He,” I paused for a second to breathe, “...he touched what’s mine,” I said.
Harry stared at me in disbelief. “No way. No f*****g way. You already have a girlfriend and you didn’t even tell me?!”
I rolled my eyes in exasperation. “No you idiot.”
I mean he’s not my lover yet.
“I can’t believe it. You’re crushing on someone. The Matthias Blaise, attracted to someone for the first time in his life. We have to celebrate. Wait, I’ll call the whole family.”
I smacked him on the head to make him stop and he winced.
“What was that for?!” he asked while rubbing the back of his head.
“Waking you up from your idiocy,” I answered in mockery.
Harry stuck his tongue out. “Who’s the lucky girl?” he asked, a huge grin pasted on that stupid face.
“Geez, just drop it already Harry. I’m not in the mood to talk about that.” I snapped and he immediately shut his mouth.
“Fine.” He crossed his arms. “I’ll know it anyway.”
“Yeah right. Good luck on figuring it out.”
After dropping Harry off in one of the restaurants they owned, I took a detour to visit a certain someone. A couple minutes of driving, I arrived at Earl’s house.
I parked the car outside and after turning the engine off I stepped out of the vehicle. I was about to knock on the door but stopped when it suddenly opened. I saw Edward like he was ready to punch the lights out of someone. He gave me a glare before walking out of the house, straight towards his jeep.
What’s his problem?
I shrugged my shoulders and walked inside. I climbed up the stairs and stopped in front of a white door.
I turned my head to the side and saw Earl wearing an oversized shirt with matching sweatpants. “Matthias? What’re you doing here?” My fingers twitched when my eyes landed on the bruises on his face.
Anger came rushing back. f**k. I should have killed that f*****g Jasper.
“Sorry I didn’t know that we’re supposed to do our project today!” He ran towards his room and I watched him arranged his things that were messily sprawled on the floor. I stepped inside his room while trying to calm my nerves.
“You look like s**t,” I said. I rolled my eyes and mentally slapped myself.
Really, that’s all you could say Matthias?
He blinked at me with his so-ever-f*****g innocent face. “T-this? I fell on the stairs and hurt myself. I’m a klutz,” he said while sheepishly laughing.
I tried to hide my smile. s**t, just hearing his laugh made my heart jump in delight.
I cleared my throat. “Now that I’m here, we should continue on that project,” I said as I walked to his bed to sit on the edge.
Earl carried his books to put it back to the shelf. “Okay, no problem. Let me just fix this.”
He started putting the books back to its respective shelves. I smiled when he tiptoed to put the last book on the top section of the bookshelf. He struggled in silence as he tried to reach up.
I watched him in amusement. “You really are helpless.”
I marched towards him and took the book away from his hand to put it to where it belonged.
Earl turned around to face me. “Thanks. You’re a big help.” He pushed his glasses up and I smirked.
“Of course I am.” I put both of my arms on his side and I could feel he was getting tensed.
“Matthias...?” He kept his head low to avoid my gaze.
I smiled again. Could he even get cuter than this?
He’s a boy.
He shouldn’t be cute.
Cute is for girls.
Fuck logic.
I leaned towards him and licked one of the bruises on his cheek. He flinched at what I did but I continued to lick it. I smirked again when he grabbed my shirt to hold on to. His breath started to get uneven until it became strings of pained pants.
“M-matthias,” he called out and I could feel his hold getting tighter on me. “W-what’re you doing?” His whole body was shaking.
I licked the bruise one more time before placing a chaste kiss on his face. I backed away from Earl and smirked when he was already panting like he just ran a marathon.
He’s definitely one of the weakest people I’d ever met.
So how come I’m attracted to him.
Fuck logic indeed.
