Chapter 3   It's the first day of his freshman year at the university. Elliot is very excited. He has to drive there with Caleb and he's more than happy since his parents had given him a car. "It's a used one but it's reliable. Just don't...just don't run out of gas." Violet told her son when they were sending the two boys. "Huh? Why?" Elliot asked. "Just do as your mother said, son." He smiled. "Okay. Fine." Caleb was impatient. "Come on! Chop chop!" Elliot shook his head and got into the driver's seat. Caleb is already in the passenger's seat. Elliot's parents Alex and Violet, and Caleb's parents Karl and Kathy are all by the front of Fuzzy Paws to wish their kids good luck on their first day of school in Bella Terra. "Drive safe, sweetie." Kathy told Elliot. Elliot nodded as he smiled at Caleb's mom. "Okay, bye!" Caleb yelled from the other side. "Go go go!" "Bye, guys." Elliot waved at their parents before starting the engine. It started on the second try. The two happily drove through the traffic. Caleb even played a song in his phone on the way. Elliot was shaking his head as Caleb sang along with his favorite choice. Lola Blanc's Like Beyonce.     Soon he even joined his best friend singing the song. Caleb is gay and he's not ashamed for what he is. Elliot is proud of him. Caleb insists Elliot isn't his type since his heart has already been taken. The two of them became friends when one time Caleb got bullied at school in elementary and Elliot stood up for him. Elliot has always been that way. He wouldn't let anyone be looked down upon for whatever unjust reason it may be behind it. "We're here!" Caleb shrieked when he saw the brick sign wall on the side of the road bearing the name Bella Terra University. He still got excited even when they had been there before already during the entrance interview. Elliot drove through and stopped by the main gate and showed his pass to the guard. "You have to stick that on the upper side of your windshield, Khun Elliot." The guard said pointing at the pass he received through mail. "So you don't need to stop every time you drive by." "Oh. Thanks!" "You're welcome!" When they arrived at the parking lot in front of the main building, Caleb immediately hopped off the vehicle after Elliot had parked it. Elliot got off himself and was met by three girls' mocking gaze - brows raised, lips frowning. At his car. "What?" Elliot asked not knowing why he's earning such look from them. Caleb was urging him to hurry up. "Be right there." Elliot replied. "How did that junk get inside the school?" One girl said. She has a long hair lightly dyed red. "Oh, look. Ew! It's got dent on it." Another one added. She has shoulder length almost blonde colored hair. "Fuzzy Paws? You named your car that?" The third girl added. She has short black hair. "If you can even refer to it as a car." The first one scoffed. Elliot grimaced. He then crossed his arms while staring at the three girls with a hard look. "First of all, Fuzzy Paws is my parents' dog sitting business. And this." He tapped on his hood. "This is still a car. Now, move along powerpuff girls. I have classes to get to." Elliot slung his messenger bag on his shoulder and gestured Caleb to follow him. The three girls were left dumbfounded. "He called us powerpuff girls!" "I told you not to dye your hair blonde!" "You're the one who dyed yours red first!" "Oh you, two. Stop." "Shut up, fake nose." The blonde and redhead said at the same time. Inside the building at the ground floor, Elliot was walking towards the lockers to wait for Kit who went to use the restroom, when one student opened his locker and suddenly stepped back in horror. His eyes widened when he was greeted by the red card with a poison sign stuck inside. A red card is almost the same as a death sentence to a student in Bella Terra. Once you get it, you're pretty much the new underdog of the whole school. You're the new target of ridicule and bullying. The reason behind it? You have angered a member of F4. Short for Flower four. The most powerful and richest kids in the university. The student who got the latest card is now frighteningly gathering his stuff from the locker cabinet. He's almost crying as some things fall to the floor because of his trembling hands. Elliot was confused all of a sudden. He saw the other students practically telling the scared guy off instead of helping him. And a teacher passed by and didn't even tell off the bullies. If anything he looked scared himself when he saw the red car pasted inside the locker. 'What the hell?!' Elliot thought. He was confused as he was pissed off. 'He's a teacher. Isn't he supposed to, I don't know. Tell them to stop?!' Elliot wasn't having any of the lack of compassion from anyone surrounding the frightened student. No one is helping. So he did it himself, not minding the vicious snarls of the students in the hallway saying, "You deserve it!" "You angered the big four." "Leave!" "Scram!" "Loser!" "Here." Elliot handed the poor guy the last of the books they fell. "Are you okay?" The other student looked up and smiled painfully as tears fall down his cheeks. He nodded and ran away before Elliot could ask him what was happening. Elliot scratched his head while his eyes followed the scared figure of the bullied student. "What happened?" Caleb emerged from one side and rushed to Elliot's. Elliot was still looking at the end of the hallway that leads to the doors. "Something incredibly despicable." He then noticed the murmurs of students still standing near him. "What?!" All the students left with either a hard glare, a click of a tongue and a motion of throat slicing. "What the hell?" Caleb blurted out. "Let's go." Elliot told Caleb and they both headed to their respective first class. Elliot is taking medicine, Caleb veterinary.       Inside his last class later that afternoon at the medical building, Elliot noticed that the same teacher who ignored the bullied student earlier is their instructor for Philosophy 101. "As what it says in your syllabus, this course would be covering the basics of the core areas of Philosophy, Aesthetics, Epistemology, Ethics..." 'Ethics... Ethics.... Ethics... Argh!!!' Elliot thought and suddenly blurt out, "Excuse me, Sir. I need to use the restroom." Without waiting for an answer, Elliot ran out of class much to Caleb's confused state. His first two classes were separated from Elliot since he's taking up veterinary. Elliot ran up the steps that lead to the roof top. He was upset because of the teacher's action this morning and he couldn't help but be angrier over the irony of the matter. The teacher is going be teaching them about Ethics. "What's the freaking use?! When he himself doesn't apply it? Pighead!!! Argh!!! I'm so pissed off!!!" "...And what's with the big four s**t? Who the hell do they think they are? Making a student feels scared and get bullied. What the f**k?! What a bunch of assholes! ...And the rest are just as bad. What kind of school is this?! I went through hell to get here? Studied until I got nosebleed for this? Lost sleep for this?! ARGHHH!!!" Elliot was screaming on top his lungs while holding the railing in front of him. "So much for a quiet nap." Elliot suddenly turned around when he heard someone else. A tall handsome young man got up from lying down on the bench right behind Elliot. He's wearing a light blue on white vertically striped shirt rolled up to his elbows, blue jeans and white shoes. He has pale skin and his brown eyes were staring at Elliot rather softly. Perhaps it was the calming vibe around him. Much like the ambiance of the rooftop they were in brought by the gentle swaying of the leaves of the trees from the moderate blow of the wind.   Elliot didn't realize he wasn't alone. "I'm sorry. Did I wake you up?" The other guy didn't answer. Instead he looked up at the sky above them. "It's gonna rain because of your ranting." Elliot frowned but it soon disappeared when the guy turned to Elliot's reddened face from earlier's outburst and smiled tenderly. "Stay dry." The tall handsome student left Elliot gaping and confused all by himself at the rooftop garden. 'Woah...' ___________________________________
