Chapter 5

"Akushi and Taiyo! I am so glad to see you, boys!"

Hearing a rather familiar voice calling us from behind the road we were running on, I and Taiyo quickly turn around to answer our call.

The one calling us was one of the elders in this city that we used to help very often. After Tsuki's death, I and Taiyo focused more on training, but we still needed to live somehow, so we still helped people in the city now and then.

"Granny! What are you doing there at this hour?"

The one to answer first was Taiyo, as lively as always. "This hour" meant was only a bit before seven in the morning.

"I wanted to see you two of course. Every elder in this area already knows the two of us are running around at this hour. You are preparing

for the selection exam, right?"

"Yes! We are going to pass it for sure!" is what I answer immediately

Taiyo also nods with a smile on his face after seeing my fast, decided answer.

"That's wonderful! As I said, I wanted to see you. Please accept this basket full of goodies and train hard!"

Seeing the basket that granny was handing to us, Taiyo quickly thanked her,

"Wow! Thank you, granny! We love you!"

The excitement can be read on Taiyo's face while looking at the basket.

"Close your mouth, you are salivating." is what I say

"Sorry, sorry."

I then turn around from Taiyo, and while bowing, I express my gratitude towards the granny as well.

After this, we continued the running session, now and then being stopped by some elders that were either inviting us to test wine they made, or be given good food from them. The two of us became quite well-known for the help we gave them. After all, we could be hired cheaply for any kind of job, either delivery of goods or helping hunters catching their prey. Those were pretty good tasks for our training too.

We ran away for a few hours and thanked all the elders until the night spread its darkness over the world. After all this, we returned to our house exhausted by all the running, also Taiyo has to carry all the presents we got from the city.

"Tell me again... Why do I have to carry all of these?!"

"How many times do I have to answer the same question? You said that you will do it if I beat you at a race. You stayed like five meters behind me the whole time."

"Oh yeah... I shouldn't have made that bet..."

"I didn't even agree to it, but you insisted that you carry them! Now let's go inside, we have to rest for tomorrow."

"Yeah, I know, I know. Let's go so maybe I can let those baskets and bags down!"

After a while, we enter the house, eat from the delicious food we got, and go to bed, trying to drown the excitement for the day that's going to come.
