Chapter 8

[I'll follow you wherever you go, Akushi!]

Those words are resounding in Taiyo's head while he was walking through the heavy sandstorm.

"I know I said that but do you really know where are you taking us... Akushi?" thinks Taiyo just before his thoughts get interrupted by a familiar voice.

"I can see it! We are close, let's go Taiyo!" says Akushi

"Heard you loud and clear! Let's speed up the pace!"

Walking through the sea of sand and winds, we see a glittering light, that brought us the hope we needed after adventuring far from home.

"The end of the tunnel huh?"

"It looks incredible! It's so different from the capital city!"

We just arrived in a small town from between the Five Kingdoms, this being one of The Colonies. The Colonies are small towns where people from all kingdoms refuge. They appeared after the great war thousand of years ago, as a result of many homes being destroyed.

"Taiyo! Don't go running around! Come and let's search for a place to stay or else the night will catch us on the streets."

"It's not that bad. I mean... We walked through that desert two days straight, right?" says Taiyo while scratching his head

"That's why I want to get a comfy bed to sleep in for once!"

"But Akushi, we have no money..."

"You don't have any money because you spent it on knives before we left! I do have some money... We might be able to stay the night and find something to do tomorrow."

Walking the town's streets, we are looking for a motel to stay the night.

Blindly walking Taiyo bumps into a tall woman whose real face couldn't even be seen because of the make-up.

Taiyo bows and apologises to her right away, but the woman turns around and calls for the group that was behind her.

"Darling! This kid touched me!"

Three muscular men come fast at the woman's call. One of them approaches Taiyo and says,

"Kid... Did you touch my girlfriend?"

"It was an accident... I didn't pay attention to where I was walking."

"Huh!? Do you think I'd fall for this?! You just touched my girl didn't you?!"

Hearing him scolding Taiyo, my face darkens. I look straight up at the man that grabbed Taiyo from the collar and with a grin on my face I proudly say,

"How could you tell she was a woman with all that cement on her face?"

The man lets go of Taiyo and turns to me,

"Brat... I'll kill you!"

"You made him angry, Akushi!"

Taiyo grabs my hand and drags me out from this tangled situation while running past the thugs.

"Catch those brats!"

Hearing their shout Taiyo says to me,

"Did you really have to tell them the truth in that way?

"He called for it though. They are still following us so let's speed up the pace."

Running around for a while, we enter a bar. We were getting tired of tunning so we planned on hiding in there for a brief period.

We go to the bartender that was just cleaning the wine glasses peacefully and ask him,

"Excuse me, are you the owner of this bar?"

"Nope, do you have anything to talk about with the boss?" he replies to us with a calm tone while still cleaning the glasses

"The truth is that we'd like to ask him if we can stay the night there... We came from one of the kingdoms and don't have where to stay. We are willing to pay of course!"

"Hmm... A second, I'll see what I can do," he says letting the glass he had in his hand down. He then goes into the back room of the bar while I and Taiyo take a seat on the barstool.

Out of nowhere, a pretty familiar voice could be heard.

"You can't run forever brats!"

"Boss! Someone said that he saw two kids running in this bar!"

Taiyo turns to me and asks,

"How did they get there! I thought we ran pretty far away from them."

"They are coming! Down! Get under the bar!" I said while dragging Taiyo under the bar.

"Kids! I heard you just entered there! Aren't you too young to drink alcohol? Kids your age need to drink lots of milk or you will stay short!"

Even though he said it with such a calm tone, we don't respond, making his calm fall apart. Without an answer, his anger reaches new heights. Out of anger, he starts throwing the tables of the bar everywhere.

Hearing the noise, some figure unknown to us appears looking at the thugs.

"You said something about drinking milk... But honestly, I like apple juice more."

"Who are you?!"

"What a rude thing to ask when you guys are the ones that came in there."

"Tch, I heard that two brats came there! Give them to me and then we can live happily ever after."

"Requesting something from me huh? I should point the fact that those are my bar's property. How are you going to pay for them... baldy?"

Something's off with him. That's not just blind confidence. He isn't a normal person... I can feel it.

While I was lost in thoughts, Taiyo started getting up from the table just to see the thugs beaten up on the bar's floor.

"What the-" Taiyo is left speechless witnessing the scene,

"You should be the kids Fyodor told me about, I am the owner of this humble bar... Kein Shimada."
