Chapter 23:Ginger woke in the flitter. Fenquick and four members of his pride sat around her. She was held in position by two of the larger males. Everyone had a tight grip on something solid. Weapons were clutched between their knees.
She was shocked to find the sun high in the sky. Somehow, she missed dawn.
“Glad to see you are awake,” Robbie’s voice whispered in her ear.
Fenquick beamed from the jump seat directly across from her. Past his right shoulder, Ginger spotted the back of Robbie’s head. A small mirror over the controls allowed her to see his face. Eyes wandering over the scene, she had difficulty focusing on any one thing for more than the briefest moment.
She felt horrible, lightheaded, and queasy. “Where are we?” The words came out as a groan.
