“Sir Joan, why are you always on my mind in such dangerous ways? Why do you always disturb me with your presence? Are you obsessed with me or something?” Joan took a slight step back as Jiyya’s index finger kept pointing directly at his face. The grown man could only smile knowingly at the brilliant student, who had shifted from being merely intelligent to becoming a girl who had begun to capture his attention. Jiyya’s behavior, so completely different from the way she had been when they first met, only made her all the more adorable. Just moments ago, she had been completely silent, both toward Dean and toward him. And yes, Joan knew very well that she had been deliberately building a wall, one reserved especially for him. Fortunately, after a few drinks, Jiyya had suddenly become exceptionally talkative, especially with him. He had Dean to thank for dragging his childhood friend here, convincing her to come to a bar like this and even trying hard to ease the tension between the three of them. Even so, part of Joan felt somewhat guilty, because he had never intended to take advantage of Jiyya’s current drunken state. And indeed, he should not. Yet Jiyya’s behavior was simply too cute, and her spontaneous remarks, along with her confession of being a “stupid virgin girl,” inevitably caused Joan to begin constructing all sorts of mischievous scenarios in his mind. And what about Dean, the one who had brought them together? Well, he was perfectly fine. In fact, he was so fine that he had already fallen fast asleep, drool trickling onto the table after drinking two bottles nonstop like a man possessed. “What a surprise. I never knew I was special enough to occupy your thoughts, Jiyya,” Joan said, gently responding to her drunken question. “So, what would you like me to do now, hm?” Jiyya dropped her head onto the table, as though trying to hide her face. But not long after, she pointed at the handsome lecturer once again, glaring at him with clear displeasure. “Silvana said you have a fierce performance in bed, Sir. She also told me that you’ve touched and enjoyed many women. How can a lecturer have such an image? That crazy woman keeps contaminating my thoughts about you. It’s really disturbing. Now, everything you say sounds dirty in my mind. I can’t even look at you in the usual way anymore.” “Ah... is that so?” Joan briefly glanced at his student, who had just patted him. He found that Dean had merely shifted his sleeping position before resuming his snoring. “Well, to be honest, I’m afraid I may not be quite that interesting.” The man then lowered the mask he was wearing, revealing his face fully to his beautiful student, unobstructed as always. Joan was the very definition of one of God’s sexiest creations. He had a strong jawline, shadowed by the faint trace of stubble. There was a dimple in his right cheek whenever he smiled at her. Instantly, Jiyya’s face flushed red, and she quickly turned away to avoid looking at him. Seeing such a natural reaction, Joan merely shook his head before adjusting his mask back into place. “Is there something wrong with my face, Jiyya?” “Nothing at all. It’s just that you’re really handsome,” Jiyya blurted out, immediately covering her mouth with both hands. Her expression was one of sheer horror, as though she had just made a terrible mistake. Joan laughed behind his mask. Jiyya truly possessed an endlessly fascinating range of expressions. “Ah, well... thank you, Jiyya. That’s a very sweet compliment. You’re a beautiful girl as well.” Jiyya’s face grew even redder upon hearing the sincere praise from her young lecturer. Then, quite suddenly, she looked directly into Joan’s eyes with the utmost seriousness. It was the same look she always gave the blackboard whenever Joan taught in class, the look he had always admired in his brilliant student. “Sir Joan, Silvana once gave me some advice. She said I should make love.” Joan’s brow furrowed immediately. “What?” he asked. “You mean Silvana wants you to make love with her?” His eyes widened, and his mouth fell open. For a brief moment, he imagined the two of them together, and it was certainly not an unpleasant image to fuel his wilder fantasies as a man. “No!” Jiyya quickly dismissed his speculation. “Not me and her. But Silvana said that I and Sir Joan—” the short-haired girl pointed first at herself, then at Joan with her index finger, “—should make love.” Hearing her explanation, Joan found himself even more intrigued. “Oh, did she really say that?” In truth, the thought of spending a night with Jiyya had crossed his mind more than once, serving as material for his private fantasies, whether he was alone or with someone else. But he had never imagined that someone else might share a similar fantasy. He knew that Silvana was a striking student on campus, whether because of her personality or her appearance. Joan had often wondered how two people with such opposite personalities had managed to become such close friends. Still, beneath all of that, Joan felt he ought to thank Silvana for planting such an extraordinary idea in her friend’s mind. He suspected he and Silvana might get along quite well in matters like this. “Yes, Sir.” “And what do you think about that?” The girl moved her lips, clearly too embarrassed to admit it. “I don’t know,” she murmured. “But I did tell Silvana that it could never happen.” “Why not?” “Because Sir Joan would never want to make love with me, and besides, I already have someone I like,” Jiyya replied. To Joan, that stung a little. He had always known that there was another man who ruled this girl’s heart. Still, hearing her say it aloud left an unexpected emptiness inside him. As for Jiyya, being drunk had a way of making her spill everything that weighed on her, whether it was emotional burdens or the secrets that gave her headaches. She became intensely sensitive to everything, which was exactly why she disliked bars and alcohol. Afterward, she always felt like an entirely different person. Joan did not comment immediately. Instead, he glanced at her and noticed the way she nervously gripped the fabric of her hoodie. “Yes, I wouldn’t,” Joan finally said in a calm voice, though inwardly, a fire was burning within him. It was childish, perhaps, but that was exactly what he was feeling at that moment. Hearing Joan’s answer, Jiyya’s expression changed. Her eyes widened as their gazes met. “I wouldn’t want to do it. Not now, while you’re drunk. But another time, I would like to make love with you. Of course.” “Huh? W-what?” Jiyya blinked several times, clearly startled by her young lecturer’s confession. “There’s something important I want to tell you, Jiyya.” Joan leaned closer, until their faces were nearly touching, the distance between them reduced to almost nothing. Then he moved even closer, just enough to whisper in her ear. “Maybe you should come see me tomorrow. I’d rather talk to you when you’re sober. That way, we’ll both know what we truly want, and we can see whether your feelings change or not.” As if that were not enough, he lowered his mask and lightly brushed his tongue against Jiyya’s earlobe. Instantly, a shiver ran through her body like an electric current traveling down her spine. Satisfied with his actions, Joan stepped back and restored the distance between them. He then effortlessly lifted Dean’s limp body over his shoulder, despite the young man having been slumped there for quite some time. “You can think about my offer. Oh, and I’ll call Silvana to help you get home.” “Umm...” Jiyya could no longer seem to form words. She looked utterly dazed. Joan did not feel the need to say anything more. He simply excused himself and left, taking Dean with him. Meanwhile, Jiyya remained seated, staring blankly at his retreating figure. Once both of them were truly gone, Jiyya completely lost control of herself. She let out a muffled scream while repeatedly tapping her forehead against the table. She did not care that her behavior was drawing the attention of several nearby patrons. All she could think about was the conversation she had just shared with Sir Joan, every word replaying vividly in her mind. “What have I just done? Stupid Jiyya, argh!” “Miss, is something wrong? Please, calm down!”
