“ Somebody save me please" Ellie muttered as she moved vigorously on the bed in a desperate attempt to escape.
" Ohh !! Ellie you're awake, finally “ the doctor said jolting her to consciousness.
" How did I get here?" Ellie asked,fear written all over her.
“ A man who introduced himself as a lawyer brought you here,he said you passed out but he left immediately “ Doctor Stella explained
“ I understand you're having nightmares and some unusual feelings,but I assure you it's just one of the symptoms of the first trimester of pregnancy, you'll soon get through this “ she added
“ Thank you doctor,but I don't want to keep the baby” Ellie said in a pleading tone
“ I'm not fit to take care of this baby"
"Ellie, I understand that this is a difficult time for you," the doctor, a kind- faced woman with a gentle and compassionate smile said, her voice cool and sweet. "But I have to advise you that aborting the baby at this stage is quite risky and complicated.”
Hearing this made Ellie's heart sink ,her fists clenched in fear as she asked “ What complications are involved Doctor?"
"There's a high risk of infection, bleeding, and damage to your reproductive organs," the doctor explained. "And even if the procedure is successful, there's a risk of emotional trauma and regret.” This statement only heightened Ellie's fears as her heart was pounding fast. Doctor Stella noticed her state and tried convincing her
“I'll advise you to keep this baby,who knows what the future holds, besides this is your first pregnancy right?”
“Yes it is" Ellie nodded
“Beautiful! Or you can decide to put the baby up for adoption if you want to but abortion is not a viable option for you dearie “she advised,her tone laced with concern and empathy.
Stepping out of the doctor's office, Ellie felt more overwhelmed with mixed feelings – anxiety,fear of raising a child alone but Doctor Stella’ s reassuring words was a solace and comfort.
Walking towards her car, Ellie felt numerous eyes boring into her, alongside eerie whispers and accusing fingers which made her uncomfortable as she doubled her steps and drove away immediately she got into the car .
“ Why did you both have to abandon me in this miserable world?" Ellie broke down in tears as fresh memories of her parents,once etched with vibrant smiles flooded her mind, their absence causing her heart to ache.
Just a few weeks ago Ellie's parents Mr and Mrs Summers had been involved in a ghastly auto crash and it was the beginning of Ellie's misery . From mourning her parents to waking up on her CEO’s bed and getting married to him against her wish and now having his baby.
It was a whole rollercoaster of emotions and events and everything happened so fast like she was a pawn in a game.
‘ You should have just taken me with you,” Ellie continued in tears.
Just then,an idea struck her! Relocate!
Yes!! That's the only way she could escape this seemingly endless traumas and pains and she won't have to wear masks or disguise herself in public in fear of public outlash .
Eyes lit up with determination, Ellie made a firm resolve to leave her painful memories behind deeply buried in the recesses of New York.
A new beginning was unfolding and a surge of hope flowed through her as she headed straight to the airport and booked the next flight to the United Kingdom.
Back in the Whitehall's industries,David was having a meeting with the enraged shareholders desperately trying to pacify them. The scandal dented Whitehall's industries reputation badly thereby causing a major internal loss and massive decline in sales .
“How do you want us to believe you're responsible enough like your father to successfully run this company?" One of them asked, his tone laced with doubt.
" I promise – but Victor cut in
“ My cousin, David is fully committed to this company's outstanding progress .This scandal is as a result of some greedy leeches ,you know" he explained in a calm, convincing manner.
" But this whole mess is being cleared up I assure you” . Victor paused and scanned through the shareholder's faces to study their reactions.
He sensed their uncertainty and concerns and pressed on "Let's put sentiments aside and work together to regain our losses. Together,we shall restore this company's reputation and prosperity."
As Victor spoke, his words resonated with the shareholders, and they began to nod in agreement. David's eyes locked onto Victor's, gratitude and admiration shining in them. Together, they had successfully won the shareholder's mind over.
“So what's the latest on Ellie" David asked his P.A as they walked through the corridor to his office. Undeniably, David had developed a soft spot for Ellie while they were married but he was too stoic to show it. And even now that they were divorced, he couldn't let her off his mind.
“ She's gone sir"James answered,his voice impassive
*Gone?? David halted in his steps, turned to face James as if searching for answers
“ To where?
" That I don't know sir,the lawyer said she was unconscious when he left “
David's eyes narrowed,. "Find out where she is, James. Now." He ordered, turning back to head to his office
James nodded and quickly pulled out his phone to make a call. But just as David rounded the corner he didn't notice Lily, one of his staff members, standing in his path.
Their bodies collided , dislodging the documents in Lily's hands as they danced in the air . Instinctively,David's arms wrapped around Lily's waist to steady her, simultaneously pulling her closer to his chest.For a moment, they stood there, frozen, their faces inches apart and the world around them ceased
Lily's eyes widened in surprise, and David's heart skipped a beat as he realized how closely they were pressed together.
Still entangled with each other, James's voice suddenly cut through the air. "Sir, I think I've found something."
David's head jerked up, his eyes locking onto James's serious expression. "What is it?" he asked, his voice low and urgent.
“I'm sorry sir but it's a bad news”James said, tension rising in his voice.
