"How do I look?" I say, doing a little twirl in my spotted blouse and black pencil skirt I know I look professional and so f*****g what if this whole outfit was from the thrift shop.
"Umm, like a school teacher!" Spencer says as I roll my eyes and then giggle at the thought of me being a school teacher; I would be terrible; I am too absent-minded.
"I was hoping for a professional assistant, but you win some, you lose some," I say, shrugging.
"So what's Brayden like?" Spencer asks, changing the subject as I scoff.
"A self-centered asshole who hasn't had to work, and I mean work that hasn't been given to him by his daddy a day in his life; that is what he is," I say as Spencer grins.
"I'll give you a month." He says as I glare at him.
"Why, I'm not getting fired again its not fair i was getting fired because I wouldn't f**k my boss and then because I didn't smile enough it was getting f*****g stupid; it's not happening," I say as I pull on my kitten heels, and Spencer grins.
"Oh yeah, I can see that you clearly pay close attention to detail, but look at the way your blouse is done up so tight, it's choking you, but then again that's how you like it, kinky girl," Spencer says, grinning as I laugh.
"I'm not kinky, shhhh!" I huff jokingly as he smirks.
"Oh yeah, remember that time you were drunk, and you tried too......"Spencer says as I cut him off.
"Shh!" I snap, slapping his arm as he grins.
"Oh, here," he says, walking over to me, handing me a bag. I open it and see an iPhone box.
"What the hell, Spence? I can't pay for this; these stupid little brick things cost more than my months rent." I say as he smiles.
"Happy early Christmas and birthday present. I don't want you walking home from work without a phone, plus what are best friends for?" he says, smiling sweetly as I hug him.
"You know I hate gifts," I mutter, feeling bad for how much he's spent on me.
"No, you don't receive many gifts, so you aren't used to kindness," he says as I hug him again, nearly tearing up.
"Thank you, Spence. I will pay you back every penny."I say as he shrugs me off, and I grab my green, worn shoulder bag, stuffing the iPhone box inside and zipping it up.
"I got to sleep; I'm on night shift again," Spencer says, walking into his room as I make my way out of the front door.
"Sweet dreams, bear boy," I mumble, closing the house door shut.
I walk to the coffee shop, getting Mr St. James coffee, which I've been told, with strict instructions: black, two sugars, piping hot; even his coffee order is annoying.
I stand queuing in Toronto's top coffee beanery as I look up at the clock, realising I'm going to be late. I tap the person's shoulder in front of me.
It's a couple of teen girls, the kind that would've bullied me in school.
"What." The girl with light blonde hair says as I cringe internally at her already present attitude.
"Hi, I'm so sorry to ask, could I maybe cut in front? My boss is really mean and I rea....." I say as the other blonde-haired girl that's a little taller interrupts.
"Not our problem. Wait like everyone else." She snaps as I take a couple of steps back, feeling intimidated as I watch the hands on the clock move, and I feel my anxiety strike
"Look, here are 10 bucks. Please, I'm seriously going to be fired on my first day," I mutter as the tall blonde's eyes light up.
"10 bucks? No way, geez, thanks," she says sarcastically, taking the note out of my hand and flicking it in my face.
"I'm really sorry!" I mutter as she looks at me, confused. I push past her as the barista calls the next order.
I say my order, and finally I can relax.
I take a seat and wait for my order when the girls walk up to me.
"This is for pushing past us," they say in unison as they fling cold coffee over me; I gasp.
"At least it tastes nice," I mutter, shoving my thumb in my mouth, licking the cold coffee.
Finally, my order is up, and I grabbed it, and ran to hail a cab. Holy f**k, I am going to be fired on my first f*****g day.
"Taxi, taxi," I call as it stops in front of me.
Thank you, lords above.
"Thank you to St James and co please"
