Chapter 2 Rejection

" Ma...mate.." I repeated.
My heart was beating faster and my lips ran dry.
I began to take slow steps towards him, by then, all attention were focused on me.
My mate had a blank look on as he watched me walk closer to him.
Just when I was about to get to him, a lady walked to his side and kissed him deeply.
I halted on my track as sweat covered my body.
I felt jealousy rise inside of me, as I watched them kiss deeply.
" Mate!"
I shouted, my voice reverberated inside the hall.
My mate broke the kiss with the girl and smiled at her, causing my heart to break into pieces.
As he looked at me, his eyes were filled with nothing more than hatred.
I could feel it from the intensity of his gaze, causing me to gulp down my saliva.
" Mate? I'm your mate?" He asked.
I could swear I saw a devilish smirk dancing on his lips for a second, but it disappeared as soon as it came.
" Ye..yes. you're my mate." I nodded slowly, my gaze on the floor.
The intensity from his gaze made my body burn.
" I think you're mistaken."
He let out a charming smile, a mischievous and sarcastic voice behind that smile.
" Why would I be mated to a fat pig like you? I'm sure the moon goddess is not so dumb to give me a fat buffalo like you as a mate."
Laughter erupted like a volcano inside the hall, and the hold on my gown tightened as I fought back my tears.
I looked around as I watched them mocked and sneered at me like I was some alien from a forbidden planet.
Finally, my tears broke out. I couldn't fight it anymore.
" Awwwn, little fat pig is crying like a baby."
Elena said in a mocking tone, causing another round of laughter to erupt in the hall.
I could hear the echoes of their laughter in my head and my mind became messed up.
" S.. stop it..." I whimpered, but no one heard me.
While I was being mocked and ridiculed, I finally found out that even the moon goddess was ashamed of me.
The fact that she didn't hear my desperate prayers for my mate to accept me for who I am, meant that she also despised me.
Few months before I turned eighteen, I always prayed desperately that my mate would accept me, but as it was, she never heard my prayer, let alone listen to it.
I'm a princess just like my twin sister, Elena, but I was treated like an outcast, if not worse.
Everyone despised me and mocked me while all the praises and flatteries went to my twin sister.
It was like I was hiding behind her shadow.
" Why are you treating me like this?"
I summoned up my courage to ask, tears leaving my eyes like water.
" Don't I deserve to be happy, at least once?" I shouted.
" You don't deserve happiness fatty! A fat pig like you should be thrown into a dungeon and fed with grasses and leftovers!"
Elena sneered, her voice dripping with hatred.
I could never understand why Elena hates me.
She is my blood, my only sister, but yet, she bullied me the most.
" I don't deserve this treatment."
I whimpered slowly, my heart shattering into millions of pieces.
I doubt I could ever heal from this unending pain and eternal torture.
" Can you stop being an embarrassment already?"
A voice called out, causing me to look at the lady beside my mate.
Shock got a hold on me and I almost collapsed to the ground when my legs couldn't hold my weight any longer.
I opened my mouth to speak, but no word came out, only unstoppable tears.
" Sa...n....Sandra?"
I called out, my lips quivering and my body shaking vigorously like a jellyfish.
" Yes, he is mine." Sandra declared, her voice filled with hatred.
I shook my head countless times thinking it was a dream, but it wasn't, it was a damn reality.
Sandra betrayed me and also stole my mate away from me.
She was the one who kissed him, but I was too focused on my mate to notice.
My mouth opened slightly, as I spoke, " Were you aware all along?" I asked, causing a smirk to appear on her lips.
" Yes, I was. You're just a fat wolfless omega who doesn't even recognize her mate. Everyone knew, except for you!" She sneered and walked over to Elena.
They both giggled and struck hands together.
My knees become weak and they gave out instantly, causing me to fall heavily to the ground.
" Just take a look at her, she's the most ugly girl in this Pack!"
One person said from the crowd.
Wow! This betrayal was too much for me to bear.
When I thought I had a friend whom I could rely on, she broke me into pieces and made me feel worthless.
I struggled to stand up on my feet as I rushed to my mate's side.
I held his hand with pleading eyes.
" Please accept me as your mate."
I was too desperate and my own insecurities clouded me.
" Do you think I can accept a plus-sized omega like you? Hell no, you're an embarrassment. Just take a look at yourself. You're ugly and chubby!"
He yanked my hands off, causing me to stagger backwards, and I fell in the process.
" Please, I can't bear the pain of rejection." I pleaded, but he smirked at me.
" I can't bear the pain also, but trust me, even if I had to go to hell just to reject you as my mate, I would gladly do that."
He said, causing another laughter to erupt.
He took slow steps and squatted in front of me, his eyes fixated on mine.
He held my chin sternly and said, " I would rather remain mateless for life. You can go to hell." His voice dripped with hatred.
" I, Ravel Vixton, Future Beta of this pack, reject you, Kehlani stone as my mate!"
As he said those words, I felt a sharp pain like an arrow was shot directly into my heart.
It was like heaven and earth were closing up on me, as I felt my world spin right in front of me.
" Argh!"
I cried painfully, as the pain gripped me tightly, the mate bond slowly breaking off.
" How does rejection feel, fatty?" Sandra squatted beside me with a smirk on her lips.
" I bet it feels like crap! Well, you deserve it. I wish you were never born as my twin sister!"
Elena sneered and kicked my stomach, before walking away with Sandra and her minors.
Everyone slowly left and the party continued while I wallowed in pain.
