Chapter 38: The First Days
POV: Elowen Hart
The first few days after the birth were a wave of deep exhaustion and overwhelming love.
I barely slept.
Every time I tried to close my eyes to sleep, one of them would start crying, and the sound would pull me back from the dream land.
Silver, my first girl, cried the most. She demanded attention with a ferocity that surprised me.
Rain cried softly, almost apologetically, as if she was sorry for needing anything at all.
And Ember my last girl cried the least, but when she did, the sound was piercing, a sharp wail that cut through the quiet of the recovery room and made the other mothers in the ward glance toward my door.
Three babies with three different personalities… my tiny humans who needed me every second of every hour.
