Chapter 16: The Storm Begins
POV: Elowen Hart
The sound of thunder and lightning woke me up. It was not the soft, distant kind that rumbles like a warning. This was a full crack. Loud and sudden, splitting the sky open right above the hotel. The windows shook. The glass rattled in its frame. I sat up in bed, my heart slamming against my ribs.
The room was dark… the dark of a sky that had forgotten what sunlight looked like. I checked my phone, it was seven in the morning and our flight was at noon.
